I understand that in your area, a 17-year-old is still considered a minor. However, in my country, the age of consent is 14, and while I wouldn't say relationships involving that age are accepted, they are not entirely demonized either.

In Japan, the age of consent used to be 13 but has since been raised to 16. Another example is Italy, where the age of consent is 14 😵😐
Some people just have a hard time wrapping their heads around the fact that these scenarios can indeed occur in life (forced/arranged marriage), and that the age of consent varies throughout countries. I'm not encouraging this behavior, but it does happen more often than we think.

Honestly, I feel like they could have picked a better actress for the female lead. I'm not sure how old Moon Geun Young was when this was filmed, but she looks very young--almost too immature-looking for a 16-year-old these days. I feel like that just fuels more controversy. But that's just me 🤷♀️
