She got chances and a little fame, she is doing better than Seori. About the wardrobe every one can have their own opinions, but I think that's being true to her character. Just because she is the FL, wearing glamorized dresses for a character like hers might not be relevant to the story.

People give high ratings to shows they enjoy. There is no guarantee that tropes that offer something new will impress people. This drama offered nothing new, but the execution was new, the characters were unique, direction and pacing great, dialogues hilarious, acting excellent. Most of us got off our kdrama slumps after months through this. Many of us actually think the rating should have been higher.
Yeli has hallucinations. MXY is paralysed and depressed. Brother faced execution. Sister in law is depressed, superstitious and suicidal. Nephew faces bullying and lack of attention from mother. What a lovely family! Their family vacations should be at a therapist's chamber.
He is like an assistant of Yeli. Like takes her orders and follows her. Her words are everything to him, a very loyal supporter. He is also very much in love with her, but he understands she is married and would never look at him romantically, so he never crosses the line.
