yea I don't know why they did that in the first place. maybe because he was a spy / secret agent before (from the character introduction video) he was supposed to speak all languages fluently.

they removed that in the official sources again after backlash ;) it's also gone in later episodes. it's just the one actor. imo his original accent makes it more authentic than if he would speak perfect english. i mean he beats his foster son about his bad thai but it just fits that this man would be a hypocrite about that.

From all the Bl series airing the past months this is the one that got me like an addict (besides 1-3 other BL), it's the only one I come back to daily after it finished. There is still so much to explore and so many interesting twists and questions to go after :) and ships. The canon ones and non-canon ones.

i don't try to unpack all of that, just want to let you know that queer is an umbrella term same as LGBTq+ which gets used since decades. (also fun fact: not ever man who is into men is gay. bisexuals and pan etc exist too and to not list them all up one by one i use the general umbrella term for all)

just because of BL history we should not be ignorant towards real people nor should we cultivate prejudices / misconceptions that are rooted in sexism. and sentences like "bottom / top doesn't suit him" are not just bullshit but ignorant / closeminded af. and the thing is a lot of BL fans as well as writer try to get these two stereotypical boxes opened up and add more options to the mix. even chinese BL aren't that rigid and boring with the top / bottom characters (fem characters are often top)

And also we need to call them some slack they really do not have that much budget to make longer episodes or better footage. They did what they could and it's bit heartbreaking to see how spoiled some BL fans are to trash talk this because of the low budget issues.... or the ending of S1. Not every story has to be happy go lucky...

It is important to also watch Li's confession tape (it's another special) to understand Li's POV.
