I haven't read the novel. And this drama is unique. It is pretty much a live anime so I haven't seen another drama like this one. Also the novel is REALLY long this drama barely covers much. - what I've watched from AvenueX's youtube video.

he's a good guy at first. but then his hatred for demons (thinking his brother is one and that his brother killed their family) makes him no longer want to be Wang Lu's friend and he betrays Lianjang sect. They later reconcile and he joined the sect again but ends up leaving again. He then finds out it was him that killed his family and literally in the last few minutes of the last episode his inner demon comes out. So that's all the info we have about him.
Also about Wang Lu he is the reincarnation of Wang Wu previous lover. But Wang Lu and Wang Wu end up falling in love with each other.

LLX and HYF
It is later reveal that liu li Xian has a split personality. A happy side and a more serious, dangerous side. Also her father is a leader of a different sect. Her and Hai Yuan Fan have a past. LLX ended up killing a bunch of people and HYF found her in the forest assuming she was a victim. LLX feels guilty and decided to wipe out HYF memories of her. HYF gave LLX his badge which will later unlock his memory loss. They both have feelings for each other but then HYF wipes out HYF memories of her again and that's the end of their romance. Later on HYF becomes an important character and is revealed to be the reincarnation of the evil guy (forgot his name) that everyone wants to keep trapped. Also that he killed his family but he doesn't know it.
Feng Ling
She is later to be revealed as the re carnation of a fox demon. Her lover is also a demon and was her husband in her previous life. They both end up dead in the end. (I think)
