Even after reading the reviews here, I wasn't prepared for how explivit this show would be - I mean, for a show in SK? It's just wild. But in a good way! It could def be better, but for what it is, it was pretty good! Especially Hee Jae's and the psychologist's plot was pretty nice. (Although her encouraging him to enter the relationship with her could be perceived as icky if roles were reversed...). The 2FL's plot was a bit too shallow for my liking and didn't get enough screentime. But for a short series, my heart still skipped a bit more than one time. Recommended if you want something more than the vanilla from most kdramas, where 30 yo act like they are shy teenagers when it comes to sex.
Imo, Salon de Nabi has the same problem that most medical dramas have - while the focus on patients - and here,…
To be more specific, I kinda feel that GP's character development ended on the kiss episode. MY's bullying storyline was really badly wrapped up (from GP's side - she blamed him without hearing the full story, he broke up with her and then they reconciled without much reasoning behind it.), so I can't really count it as a development moment for GP. I think that the first time storyline had a huge potential - of course the message of waiting until one is ready is important, but it can be pointed out that sex with a loved one can be a really beatiful thing. I'm disappointed cause this storyline is barely ever covered in kdramas. (One of the very few that handled it well is It's ok thats love.) And here this plot just ends abruptly - GP was told to think if she really wants to do it with MY, and then she doesn't. I mean, at some point in life intimacy is really important, and with her being 21 I really can't blame MY for having hope. I really feel that he's the more supportive and undestanding one in their relationship, while she is unsure of him and their relationship. Really wish there was a S2 but there is of -100% chance of that...
In the last week of August, the women-centered K-drama Jeong Nyeon will air next. - that's all I got from this article. FANTASTIC! But sad for RP nonetheless. I think they have huge hopes for it, and that's the reason for delay.
Imo, Salon de Nabi has the same problem that most medical dramas have - while the focus on patients - and here, customers - brings a nice perspective, there are just too many characters and plots. You will most probably feel that your favourites didn't get enough screentime when you finish the drama - even the main leads. I was pretty frustrated tbh. I mean, even the hairdressers and interns were a crowd already, and add the customers - there is simply not enough time for all of them. Let me tell you, I am a sucker for romance. And it had soo much potential here - but there was just too little screentime. Don't get me wrong, it was still pretty special and different from the usual romance dramas - but there could have been so much more. When the main couple got together, I honestly had butterflies in my stomach, and awaited what's to come for them - but let me tell you, it's not much. In the first few eps their pace was soo fast, faster than in other dramas - and then it basically stopped, leaving some plots unresolved. But the drama is still very good nevertheless. It has some of the most realistic characters I've seen in a while - they are not one -dimensional caricatoures just for comedy sake. I'm just sad that just a bit more time for main characters would make a huge difference.
Cute premise, but doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and I'm only on episode 2 or 3. Is it ever explained why…
It was explained at the beginning of ep 1 - their chocolate company is using some kind of scraps to make the chocolate, which would usually be discarded.
I doubt that your culture is different from Korean culture in regards to "feeling guilting". "Feeling guilty"…
You know, it's more about the marketing really now that I think about it. Cause for soo many episodes the mystery was that the ML did something unthinkable. And later on, we learn that he's a murderer. Let's say, somebody who actually did a huge mistake watched this drama and thought - damn, the ML is going through the same shit I was. Wonder how he'll get through it. And then it turns out that no, the ML objectively didn't do anything wrong... and the person feels yet again that the marketing was so misleading... kinda like queerbating tbh, same mechanism of anticipation and disappointment imo. And why can't we get it? Cause the leads in dramas have to be crystal clear.

If ML actually hit somebody with his car, I'd get behind it (his feeling guilty). But: 1. Regarding the old man - he clearly said to him not to invest in certain stocks, and not to over-invest. And then to wait, as he's working on the situation. 2. Regarding his hyung - ML didn't even ask his hyung to drive. The guy insisted himself.
I get that he was feeling guilty, don't get me wrong, but for all those people to blame him and make his state even worse - to the point that he's calling himself worthless and a murderer?
My point is that I'd like to see dramas with main leads that are healing after an actual big mistake. Cause here the MLs journey should actually be to learn not to blame himself. And I want to see journeys of people who are to be blamed, but somehow still learn to live on. Dunno if I managed to articulate my thoughts properly...
The business part wasn't explained the best, even though I work a corporate job myself, in the first episodes everything was happening so fast that I was not sure what was going on, who is who and what is actual job of the leads. I also found it really weird how many times the main leads had the conclusion that health/personal life is more important than work, but they still had a shitty work-life balance even after that...
But the 1st couple was fire, the relationship was very well portrayed. I could feel that they were truly close and dear to each other. The best part of the drama by far. Though before they got together I sometimes wasn't sure what the hell are they talking about, they tried to be so misterious...
You might be right, I saw her rise to popularity after Mr Queen, but it might have happened sooner 😅 admittedly I wasn't active in kdrama world till 2020. And for sure I agree that she might have taken that role cause it was interesting! I think that when actors are popular they can focus on the roles they want, not need to do.
(Yeah I know, they are spammimg left and right instead of checking existing comments / thinking a bit for themselves... it's always been the case, and I ignored it, but rn it was just too stupid for me not to respond. Romance between a peeper and dead girl, smh)
Is it just me or do Disney+ produced kdramas have similar designs?? Like the poster for blood free loooks really…
They are pretty much the same genre / overall vibe too imo... with Netflix, there's a wide range of genres - from sci-fi, to romcom, medical dramas, etc. But on Disney+ it's mainly action/thriller, dark vibes overall. They feel very mass-produced to me, I don't feel anything special while watching them, they are too similar to anerican tv shows. The exception was the first eps of Moving...
1. This movie was reportedly shot even before COVID. So it was before SHS's rise to fame through Mr Queen. 2. Besides, this movie will most probably have scenes from before her death, and that will be the majority of her screentime. 3. If you read the description, the ML is a peeper. What do you want, a romance between a peeper and a lying influencer? Smh
Please think a bit on your own before you ask yet another "Romance?" question.
This was a pretty cute drama. Nice chemistry between the leads. The ML basically carried the whole thing for me. However, the drama is cliched as hell, and doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Not saying that it must, but I'm feeling more and more that kdramas tend to follow the same patterns. At least there wasn't a murderer in the background or something (for more than 2 eps at least).
I am pretty mad with one thing tho - the whole aspect of ML's 'healing' journey. ML tormented by a thing from the past, that he must work through - that's ok with me, I'm all for redemption stories. HOWEVER. In most dramas, the ML is not really responsible for any wrongdoings. So how is it healing when it's not even their fault? People do mistakes, yes, and need some examples in culture to show them that it's possible to live on. But here the ML did NOTHING wrong imo. Maybe it's the difference between Korea's culture and mine. But it's been bugging me lately. Say that I caused a road accident, it was my fault but I didn't wish that to happen. Will I get any comfort from watching kdramas? No, cause it always turns out that the leads take accountability for something that wasn't even their fault. Sigh. Some examples - My Lovely Liar, 30 but 16, just from the top of my head...
