I looooved the second couple! Jung YoonSoo is so so so so beautiful that I couldn't take my eyes off her! The Director was a big douchebag, in my opinion, but he did redeem himself later on. Both actors did a great job.
I also really loved all the secondary characters and I wish we had more scenes with them. Sarang is iconic.
The music was great but it got too repetitive. Poor Shin, always performing the same songs over and over...
Overall, a pleasant surprise and loveable characters that turned a simple plot into something special.

-The main character's parents (Pete and Kao) are some of the best parents in the BL universe. I'm not even exaggerating. Both of them are iconic.
-SunMork. I don't want to spoil it for you but I can't help but praise these two actors. There did a phenomenal job with their characters. Truly amazing. The development is incredible, the fluff is there, the chemistry is outstanding, the acting is great too. I watched it for PeteKao but I'm so happy I loved this couple's story as well.
-PeteKao. Of course, our main couple. I fell in love with them when I watched Kiss Me Again, and they were literally the only good thing about that show. I'm glad their friends and their relationship has another chance and is developed in this show. I reaaaally loved New and Tay's acting, it improved a lot. Also, their chemistry is no joke. I'm just super happy we got a whole new season with just these two amazing couples!
-Realistic relationships. The way the characters dealt with the problems that they had to face was very mature and realistic. I, for once, didn't blame the characters for being straight up stupid. Very well-developed plot.
I think you can watch it without having to suffer through Kiss Me Again! Just go for it and have fun. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I'll name a few:
-They fell in love so fast like??? I know it's a mini series but dude....... that was some fast love, at least for one of them. That isn't too much of a problem though, compared to the other flaws.
-There was way too much silence. The songs weren't bad but there were many awkward moments that could have been avoided if they had included some background music or sound.
-Meng Meng. I don't even want to rant about this character so I'll just say she was unrealistic (even fervorous BL lovers wouldn't act like her, at least not outside of their head), disrespectful and simply annoying.
Yeah, not the best but I can't say that I didn't enjoy it!

I decided to watch this show because Trapped left such a strong impression on me. I had big hopes for the history series and MODC certainly did not disappoint.
The chemistry between the cast made the whole show for me. EVERY interaction was gold, even if the plot didn't go the way most of us didn't want it to go (I'm not gonna cry again.............fuc-----). The actors were phenomenal and I really hope they keep acting on good dramas in the future.
The characters were incredible, in my opinion. I got frustrated at the secondary couple at first but eventually fell for them. I laughed SO HARD whenever the friends were together. Those twins??? FINE AF! (Everyone was fiiiine though haha).
Our main couple... what can I even say about them? Watching their development as the episodes went by was an amazing experience. Their relationship was portrayed in a very sincere way, and for once it was really healthy. They helped each other grow up and... live. I will never forget them. The actors did a mind-blowing job. Every touch, every look, every smile, every tear. Simply stunning.
The only characters that didn't go through that much of a development, in my opinion, were the parents. I know not every character evolves in a certain way but I do think they were quite insensitive at times, specially in the last episode (no spoilers).
The music? AMAZING. I have to download every single song from this soundtrack. I would never skip the intro because of the amazing ost, and the music always matched the mood and the aesthetic of the cinematography throughout the show, which made me really happy.
Although it'll be hard to rewatch, I don't exclude the possibility. At least for the sweet moments. That ending... hm... many people were unpleased and I was, too. However, I think it makes sense. The title is so meaningful, just like the many lessons this show taught the viewers. I'm grateful they took a risk, even if I don't necessarily agree with it. I was hoping they would make an alternative ending but I'm way too naive for even thinking about that possibility but hey, nothing is impossible, right? I wanted more interactions between the cast, at least!
Taiwan's BL's quality is outstanding. Even better than South Korea and Japan in BL's (who have higher budgets), I must say. They keep getting better and better at character development in the HIStory series and the plot keeps making my heart actually hurt, sometimes in positive ways, sometimes in.....not so positive ways. But I'm really looking forward to the next season of the HIStory series! I'm so thankful this BL didn't even feel like a BL? How to explain... I really felt like the way a relationship between men was portrayed (and the actors are probably straight, not sure) wasn't awkward at all, which happens in most BL's, even if only a tiny bit.
I won't ever, ever, ever forget this story and these characters. I'll create an alternative ending in my head but I'm thankful for everything I've learned from this show. We must live in the present and make every single day, as insignificant as it may look, count.

I can totally understand how this show influenced the drama world, as it has that iconic feeling, despite the simpleness.
I looooved Gong Yoo in this, although it wasn't my favorite performance of his; his character was so funny!! I saw real development. Honestly, I loved every character. Usually, female characters in older dramas are difficult to like but "My Chan" (lol again haha) was really likeable and a good character.
It has its flaws and it isn't a drama that I would rewatch (at least for now), but I can see its quality and value, specially since it was released 12 years ago!
Don't regret watching it at all.

So now, let me get into this review.
A little background: I'd never watched any xianxia drama (not even historical ones) and since I know many chinese shows are like that, I stayed away from them, because I feared not understanding the plot and not connecting to the characters. Nonetheless, when I saw the drama was one of the top-rated of all time I decided to check its profile page here on mydramalist and the plot really attracted me. I had no idea it was adapted from a BL novel (I like bl dramas a lot!!). But then I saw one of the actors is Wang Yibo and I remembered that name. I found out he was actually a member from a group I really like (Uniq) and I got even more intrigued. After reading some of the reviews and comments and realising the two main leads were supposed to be a couple, I was hooked. Even though it's portrayed as a bromance, I don't mind it because I love close friendships too.
I watched the first episode and I was LOST. I didn't know what was going on, who was friends with who, what cultivation was, why everyone hated the cinamonroll that is wei wuxian. The names confused me too. I left some comments on this page lol they serve as proof.
But as the drama progressed, things were starting to get clearer and clearer. After episode 10 I was already fully immersed in the story and I lived each moment of each episode very intensely. I don't want to write spoilers in this review but the way they structured this show is so well made because we get to know the characters and their intentions very well before jumping back to the present time. It's different from the novel and I think it's a good different.
I'm not sure this is the best acting I've ever seen. Honestly, I would have very much preferred the actors could use their own voices because a big part of the actor's abilities lay on their voice. I think some actors overdid their acting and some of the movements were strangely executed, like JiangCheng. I also think the team should have payed more attention to the cinematography. Even if this wasn't a high budget drama they could have worked with the lightening and the framing a bit more. I think the lack of editing was more noticeable on the last episodes. I liked the sentimental part of the last five episodes but I couldn't understand why they were in that situation and didn't run away??? Anyways, I don't want to spoil so I won't talk too much about it but I did find it weird. Some camerawork and editing could be better.
Although technically the drama wasn't the best (probably due to its low budget, most probably), it was still beautiful. The actors are S T U N N I NG, each and every one of them. Like, I didn't even know where to look!! The main leads are sooooo charming, in different ways. Our mesmerising Lan Zhan (Wang Yibo) is sublime. His facial expressions and body language were so interesting to watch. Very very very talented. And then there's XiaoZhan as Wei Ying, who literally went through hell for being too good for his world. Their chemistry is mind-blowing. The smiles they give at each other, the intimate looks, the subtle touches. To me their relationship was very obvious and I'm actually thankful they did it this way; somehow, it worked better than any BL I've ever watched.
In my opinion, every side character was soooo interesting!! The villains were great, the goodies were great, the moodies too (JiangChen, I'm talking about you). Personally, my favorite villain was the last one (don't want to spoil anyone lol). I just really like the actor, he looks so cute like what???? And the character was the most interesting to me. XueYang was just cruel, in my opinion. But I'm reading the novel now so I'll probably understand the characters a lot better!!
I finished watching this drama on Saturday and I've been writing this review ever since then hahaha This was the hardest review I've ever written because of the drama's length and my feelings about it. But, in conclusion, I'd just like to say that this drama really did change something in me and my perception of good and evil and I think the script is simply genius for making us like the guy who was supposed to be bad and how restraining the "good side" can be. I'll definitely rewatch this in the near future, probably this year or early next year if I'm being honest. When I'm done reading the novel I'll just watch interviews of the cast, suffer on twitter and wait for the MOVIES THAT ARE BEING RELEASED VERY SOON!!! Being a fan of this show is not bad at all.

If you're thinking about watching it, I say you should. But give it some time because it gets better after the first half/two-thirds.

I'm not really going to talk too much about the plot, except for the fact that it was a thousand times more interesting than the first season. The dialogues were better and I could actually see those events happening in real life.
I think the actors couldn't have fit their role better. I liked Pha before but Ben just...... he has so much charm i....wow I was amazed hahahaha he truly fit the role so well, I couldn't be happier. And he's an amazing actor too. The way he looked at wayo.. chills! I also loved this season's wayo, which was the biggest problem for me in the previous season. Earth is so cute and cuddly and his jealous scenes were so well portrayed. What can I say about MingKit/J9.................. I WAS SO SOFT WHILE WATCHING THEIR SCENES LIKE IS THERE ANYTHING MORE GOALS THAN THAT? ok, breathe. OKAY WHAT ABOUT FORTHBEAM HAHAHAHAHAHHA I WANNA DIE. I can't deal with these couples, I swear. I loved every couple equally and I was never bored or sad that the focus on the couple changed? Like, when they showed several couples in one episode. I was always happy and excited hahahaha.
They all worked really hard and even though this is their first work as actors, they did soooo well.
They are all amazing people too so I love watching their interviews and Pavel's channel. They are great together and I'm so glad they always try to communicate with the international fans :').
The opening song is great and I'm glad they added subtitles. The piano scene.. my heart can't take this )));;;.
I didn't aim at comparison but it's inevitable in some cases. I did like this season way more than the first one and I'm soooo excited for the third season that apparently has been announced. Lovely show.

I'm going to start off this review by saying the only good thing about this show is Hero's face. I'm genuinely confused on how and why this even aired. If this was made into an actual 16 episode long drama it would have been better but the way they did this made NO SENSE. The music wasn't bad but it's not memorable. This is the second "part" of the History series I watch and I'm. shocked at how bad this was since Trapped was so good...
Anyways, I'll watch the rest because I've heard they get better but I'm a bit skeptical now...

But I don't feel like my time was completely wasted because I ended up finding a lovely heartwarming story. Although the plot isn't my favorite- it literally has ALL the clichés in dramaland: rich boy poor girl, orphan, mean mother, love hate relationship, "unattractive" female lead that drives the male lead crazy, love triangles, mother who tried to break them apart, male lead being a martyr etc etc-, if I were to compare if to other older dramas I've watched (released before 2013 is old to me) it IS really good. The acting and the soundtrack made a huge difference in my liking for this drama.
Both the main characters and the side characters were amazing and all of them had a purpose. The humour was superb and I genuinely laughed. Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won's chemistry was so amazing I can't even begin to describe it. Lee Jong Suk rocking although he isn't a main character? Yep, we got that too. The soundtrack was great and it actually enhanced the emotions of the scenes.
Yes, it had some things I did not enjoy as much but it was still great. I was soooo late to this train hahaha but I've finally watched it! I was going to give it 8 stars but then I thought about Hyun Bin's eyes and the elevator scenes and I gave in. Can't wait to watch more of these actors!!
P.S.: Yoo In Na did so well :') cutest character ever!

Finally I found a drama whose main couple isn't one bit problematic!
The plot is really good. A lot of people in the comments were complaining the drama was boring and that it lost its initial spark. I somewhat disagree. I didn't find it boring at all; the plot simply took another direction. And although some of the "explanations" we got could have seem like easy plot devices used by the writers to justify the characters' attitudes, it still made sense. Everything was connected since the beginning of the drama and to me that was really satisfying. I lived for the humour moments here and there and the sweet moments were so amazing I couldn't help but smile.
The actors did a PHENOMENAL job. Their interactions were so natural I doubt they were acting most of the time. They gave genuine answers and smiles. Even the characters I did not like at first ended up growing on me later on so there wasn't not even one character I disliked. I also enjoyed the fact that they all had their own little plot going and weren't completely ignored by the writers and were only there to serve the main couple. Cindy and Eungi (and Cindy's mother by the end) weren't my favorite at first (although I didn't necessarily dislike them) but as the story progressed they became soooo good to me!
And shall we talk about our main couple? Wow. Like I mentioned previously, this couple was one of the healthiest, most genuine, sweetest I have ever watched. So incredibly mature, supportive and understanding. Kdramas have really gone a long way since Boys over Flowers haha Jun Pyo could never! Park Minyoung and Kim Jaewook are incredible actors, hands down of the best rom-com performances of 2019. Their chemistry was amazing so hopefully we'll see them act together again in the future.
Your precious little girl ohohohyeahoh hahaha, it's really addicting. I really liked the soundtrack so I have nothing else to add here. Not sure if I'll rewatch this anytime soon but I'll certainly rewatch some scenes here and there. The chemistry is too good not to.
If you're looking for a drama with a non-problematic couple that literally does not fight over stupid things, you will really enjoy this one!

This could have been the best drama of 2019. The first episodes were mind blowing: great acting, lovable characters (even Yeonseo) who had an interesting background, exciting plot (especially since angels are my favorite supernatural creature) and an amazing soundtrack. Unfortunately, the only thing that held up until the end of the drama was the amazing soundtrack. I liked every single one of the songs that played throughout the show. The rest of the elements simply didn't correspond to the expectations I had created during the first few episodes. However, I remained excited until the end though, wishing there was some kind of redemption and the plot they were wasting with Director Ji and Nina, those strange whispers that were always following the oldest sister and the crazy teacher would eventually have some space in the show. Not only were those stories wasted, the main story ended with more than 7 plot holes (that I noticed/could count). I'll give some examples: they didn't explain Dan's life as an angel (if he died when he was little, when he became an angel was he already a grown man? Did he simply wake up as an angel?); why did the Archangel and the elder man suffer God's punishment (as well as the director who lost his lover) but not the main couple?; Dan said that maybe his relationship with Yeonseo would also help the director somehow but ??? His goal in life was to put up a good Giselle performance?????; is the director immortal?; Why did the Archangel kill that man? HIS POWERS CAN DO ANYTHING!!!! HE COULD HAVE JUST LEFT HIM UNCONSCIOUS!etc etc
I honestly thought the sister was possessed or was a dark angel or something. And I also though the Director had more importance to the story other than to give some information that wasn't even that useful since they used the "Only God knows why" card every time.I was very disappointed.
And some characters were so lovable at first but then they lost a bit of their magic. I mean, do you want me to believe Dan, a literal angel, who saved abandoned dogs and protected a child from getting hit by a car, who is very smart and knows there are other ways to punish people, would try to kill someone??????????????????? Knowing that she was already being investigated?????????? Try again.
Never thought I'd say this but my favorite characters ended up being Butler Jung. At first her personality wasn't that good but in the end she proved she was like an older sister to Yeonseo.
So this is why I don't give this show a higher rating. But 8 stars isn't a bad rating at all then why am I even giving it such a good score when I pointed all the flaws in it? Well... the visuals were great...

The cinematography was really good, in my opinion. Even the title fits the whole rainy atmosphere somehow.
A rather short movie but I certainly don't regret watching it!

I decided to watch Punch because of my boyfriend. He said Kim Raewon was his favorite actor and that I had to watch this show to understand why. I'm so grateful he recommended this show to me because I wouldn't have watched it otherwise since it's not talked about a lot; in fact, I had never heard about it.
I'm the romantic comedies and bl's kind of person. Dramas with powerful ost's, about youth and dreams and love. Well, Punch was definitely a challenge for me. The first episode was so hard for me to understand that I had to read someone's review of the first (and second and third) episode online so that I could understand what was going on. I don't know anything about law or politics and corruption has never been something I'm too aware of. But the first episode intrigued me. Probably because of Junghwan's ambiguity as the main character and the strength of the female lead, Hakyung. These two actors blew my mind. Of course, Lee Taejoon also played a big role in my admiration for this drama. And the other "villains" too. I could understand why they had to be punished and although I hated them I also hoped for a redemption. In the end, I have to admit, Lee Taejoon was the only one I believed to have a heart.
What to say about the script? I don't have any words, to be honest. All the metaphors, subtle remarks, the plot twists. I simply have no words. I'll only say that it's without any doubt the best plot of anything I've ever watched. The writer deserves all the awards and recognition.
Even the music fit in perfectly with the drama's theme and the episodes' brusque endings. I think I heard one ballad once for like ten seconds during the whole show. It doesn't matter, at all.
Rewatching this show? Oh, I certainly will. I'll make my boyfriend watch it with me and watch me cry like a baby whenever Yerin appears on the screen. The actors did such and amazing job, along with the writer, director, the whole team. How could I never watch this again?
I'm so glad I took on the challenge of watching something completely out of my comfort zone. It was eye-opening.
Needless to say it is one of my favorite dramas of all time.
So, if you're reading this, please watch it. If you only have one day to live, watch all 19 episodes of this drama.
P.S.: I'm obviously joking!! Spend time with your family!
P.P.S.: But seriously, it really is THAT good.
