I am dropping after 10 minutes of ep. 1 it is way too soap opera. Ugly screaming in work-place. Do I really want to watch this. no. I guess to each their own.
Thanks to Cheshire Unicorn's recommendations list I am giving this another try. I was turned off in ep. 1 with all the techno-cyber surveillance of TOP but it turns out to be a great collaborative story between the FL and ML. Good story, lots of secondary characters fleshed out that are interesting. The only quibble is how the FL handed over all the control of her shares to the horrible dad. Making her penniless and with no rights to the company at all.
I Love the ML's meat restaurant dad and middle school loyal buddy. The FL's expressionless face was a slight annoyance, but the character was excellent. The romance put is the least possible you pretty much forget about it.
The brilliant, writing, acting directing has turned the typical we're all evil chaebol hahahaha drama into an engaging story. 8.3/10
Finally, the kdrama goodness is again at high tide. I am loving Mr. Queen, Live On, Love Revolution, True Beauty, Sweet Home, Uncanny Counter, Lovestruck in the City and best of all Run On.
I love the whole cast and the story telling. Can't wait for more episodes; surprised by the low ratings. It may be some people don't like this type of non-linear storyline.
Prince's are people too; their governments can be strong or corrupt or weak or religious or learned. Unless you expect all historical dramas to portray cookie cutter expectations that all princes are shown as sword wielding tough guys. Maybe these kinds of drama are not your cup of tea.
this is a magnificent historical drama that i watched for about 12 episodes. I loved the light hearted stuff at the beginning about who the author was and running around in mysterious costumes etc. Also SSK has finally come into her own as a competent actress instead of looking kind of mopey all the time.
That all being said when the story took a dark turn I dropped it. I am not a big fan of the political machinations of most historical dramas. Even so, the writing, acting, directing was far ahead of most run of the mill shows. So I came back to see ep. 18-20 with no regrets.
I would rate this a little higher maybe 8.5 - 8.7. Enjoy!
From when Mi Joo's professor starts abusing her 17:00 and she says shes done nothing wrong it started off with a bang! Its been getting better and better.
Since Rookie Historian Shin Se Kyung has improved so much that I really like her now. She used to have this kind of unpleasant pout as her resting face; thankfully its gone now! And in this show she makes a very interesting FL!
All the side characters are great as well as their story lines like the atheletes and the interaction between the agency CEO Noona and the haxen artist; who are terrific.
The Ki Seon Gyeom character is a complex mix of dense, sensitive, sheltered, misunderstood, shrewd and a seeker of impossible justice.
One of 2020s best series. Not a big fan of Yoon Sang Hyun. But he wasn't in it all that much. this was great for 10 episodes and then it kind of ran out of steam with too much Go Young. Episodes 14-16 flew by, so maybe if the whole thing had been 12eps? I really liked both kids and the side characters. Also I really wanted the ML2 to wind up with KHN. Even then its way better than a lot of the very dark shows out there now.
8.7 is exactly the score I would give it. Well worth the watch.
More people should watch this drama; it should also have higher rating. It was so refreshing and coherent. She lost many times without giving up! It should have a way higher rating! I am a huge fan!
Also, the business/political world bad dealings seem very realistic. The business people just cut corners and then buy off the politicians to hide their problems and make more money!!!
Have you watched Search or It’s Okay to Not Be Okay or Into The Ring pr Birthcare Center or Secret Forest 2…
It’s Okay to Not Be Okay or Into The Ring were very good. The School Nurse Files was also a good one. I loved Stranger but have to go back and finish watching or Strangers 2 (Secret Forest).
I really liked Lawless Lawyer but that might have been the year before.
Will have to check out Birthcare Center . Hospital Playlist really hit the spot.
I started watching because there were too many dark, thriller, killer, crime, politics dramas on. I kind of forgot about it and then restarted on ep. 6 which already felt like the usual ep10 slump. I guess I will keep watching but it is pretty draggy.
I already got tired of their bickering, misunderstanding, 2nd-ML semi-stalking; it was not entertaining at all. The bits I liked were the secondary characters like the prosecutor and the long term dating Noonim.
Come on kdrama industry churn out more silly light romcoms and dial back the dark content.
How come in most kdramas rich families are so cold, emotionally distant and unloving, also very mean...like, there…
The rich don't get rich by being nice. Also, they may have financial interests that clash with other family members and are sometime portrayed as either cold or if they are nice: eccentric.
It seems like this is the warmest brightest kdrama in a long time. It is hitting the spot i LOVE that the FL is just so energetic when she has lost everything.

I am rewatching ep.1-8.
