It's just a coincidence. There are many dramas (in the past, currently filming and a lot planned to be released in the next 2 years) that are based in webtoons. There are even articles specially delving into this trend of webtoons adaptations. Plus, as @yukhewi said below, he got the looks.

Curiously almost all of his many dramas had romance genre until he got a girlfriend in 2016 (he married her last october). The exception is The Undateables, which is from 2018 and has romance.
