I love your comment, but I don’t think Haode is aloof at all. She’s quiet and fades into the background, but never cold and distant. She’s always engaged with the family and seemed happy and carefree, running about, playful with her baby sister, much like Lydia and Kitty of “Pride and Prejudice.” We didn’t know much of her personality in the earlier episodes, but now her lovely character is being showcased. It appears she’s been so quiet all this time because she’s an insecure person. (I find, even in real life, quiet insecure people often get unfairly mischaracterized as aloof/stuck-up.) She thought her sisters were more talented, beautiful, and lovable than she. But, she’s learning to have more confidence in herself now. Someone criticized her for daring to love someone so far out of her league. Ridiculous! He’s just a man. Of course, she’s qualified to love and be loved by this fine and upright man. I think Haode might be the most relatable sister to me. But, I love them all.

The adoptive mother (the blind woman) did indeed tell him the truth of his origins. He did his own research when he was curious about her strange reaction to Mr. Yu. But, clearly, the adoptive mom would have had to tell him the full story. The drama just didn’t show that conversation. That’s my thoughts anyway.

“Pillar of sensibility”—I like that expression. Yes, she’s a lovely woman, a wonderful addition to their family.

The term “soap opera” kinda demeans this delightful family drama. But, I get what you mean. It’s light melodrama, nothing to take too seriously. Full of twists and turns, angst and fun.
