I really wish they had left out the stalker storyline. It just did not add anything to the story. There really…
The stalker was the whole point of the trunk. Without him and that trunk, there’d be nothing for the police to investigate. The fact that this drama was really about a police investigation was woefully underplayed. The director made the police investigation a casual side point instead of a key vehicle by which to tell the story.
“The Trunk” is better to me. This is a slower-paced, grownfolks drama that’s heavier, moodier, and more cerebral than the glitz-and-glamour, light and playful vibe of “Love in Contract.” The romance in “The Trunk” gave me far more butterflies.
It easily kept my attention. Binged it all in a day. The crazy ex’s toxic behavior made no sense. But, the romance that was borne out of her insanity was moving to watch. The leads’ chemistry gave me butterflies 🦋🦋🦋. The leads were relatable in a number of respects—fear of loneliness, holding on to toxic relationships out of sheer habit, allowing a failed relationship to disable you emotionally—these things really happen. It was a good drama. The contract marriage concept is an extremely bizarre concept, but the good that the FL was able to do for her clients was undeniable. It’s like a high-end, personalized, live-in therapist chef-maid with benefits. 😜
On episode 4. The ex is so twisted and toxic. She doesn’t want to be with him, but she doesn’t want to let him go either. OMMGGG. 😕😒 I hope she gets her just desserts.
Rewatched after several years. Reminded again of how good this drama is. One of my absolute faves. The chemistry is so good and the FL is so smart but adorable. Esther Yu was great in this.
Love a steamy mini drama, but I personally didn’t enjoy this one. One of the worst I’ve seen in this genre—the acting, the plot, and the weak kisses (although they got a bit better towards the end). I like Li Jiu Lin, super handsome, but this was pretty cringey.
IQIYI is finally taking reservations for this drama, whereas even just a couple of weeks ago, they weren’t. So, the drama is on its way! Looking forward to this one so much.
Nice house slippers are nothing new. The younger generation must be unfamiliar with this. Granted, they don’t look very comfy, but they are nice for an elevated look especially if company comes over.
