Your criticisms are eloquent and beautifully written, but too harsh. The leads knocked it out of the park. While the ML is not a comedic actor, his subtle brand of humor was charming and funny. Also, Wang Churan was fantastic as Mian Tang. I thoroughly enjoyed their performances. The coulda/shoulda suggestions you made regarding what could have made this a more compelling drama were interesting and thought-provoking. But, the drama was already very outstanding as is. I enjoyed reading your perspective though—full of great insights. Also, the second lead couple was delightful, not extraneous, unnecessary, or boring at all . I thoroughly enjoyed their love story and got quite a few chuckles and heart-fluttering moments from it. You and I definitely agree on the little Empress though—she was absolutely lovely.
She sent her mother many gifts while she was abroad. Gifts that mom left unopened and never used, like makeup/skincare. How do you know she never gave her parents any money? Also, what obligation does she have to bestow a large sum of money on them? She’s been a very good girl her whole life. She’s likely done many nice things for them over the years to show her love and gratitude. My parents never expected me to gift them money. But, I got their back if needed.
True, lol. Bestie is cute though. I like that actress. She was the bestie in “Love Is Sweet” too. She looks different now though. Maybe she lost weight or something?
If you like detective dramas, you’ll like it. I find the cases a bit hard to follow though. I’m in it for the lead couple. She’s smart but headstrong. He’s cold and harsh, the strong silent type. People are frustrated by the FL character, but their chemistry is fire to me. Overall, it’s a good drama. The visuals and fight scenes are great.
