First time I watched this: the "freaky Friday" twist pissed me off and I rage quit the drama lol I DON'T do supernatural in my makjangs ... but I came back because I'm a completionist... Second time my dad passed away and I had to handle that... that's been handled. Two years later... Third time... well, hopefully I finish this 🤪
This starts like your typical affair makjang but things quickly go to the left when the FL ends up blind. Things get even crazier when the 2FL kills the 3FLs sister and the 2FL frames the FLs dad. 3FL is out for blood and wants to take matters into her own hands
Yes, this drama has three female leads, or it was supposed to. Serin (3FL) and Gyeoul (FL) switch bodies on some BS - and then iirc the 3FL lays in a coma for most of the drama, until she gets killed off. (Yes, I looked up spoilers related to the 3FL on namuwiki lol)
And then it's business as usual with the FL (in the 3FLs body) vs the 2FL
real!Serin (3FL) is my favorite character (now do you see why I rage quit this the first time around) BECAUSE she's unhinged. Looking at how this drama goes it's clear the screenwriter didn't know how to handle a character like Serin... And it's a shame because this drama is written by the same person who wrote Man in a Veil... which is definitely of higher quality.
The potential for a good makjang story is there. I'm looking forward to seeing how the writer squanders it, and seeing for myself just why this daily is controversial lol
Idk how I missed that, but now I'm COMPLETELY on Ja-Young & Jae-In's side. Fuck Seri and Gi-Chan with a charred…
Same I remember at the beginning, they made it seem like Seri was just stealing under Jaein's name which is bad, but somehow she manages to make it so much worse!
now we know why Ja Young was so infuriated at Se Ri being named Jae in and what she was doing - as a mom I would…
Totally agree. At first I thought Jayoung was power tripping but she was absolutely in the right when she made Seri kneel in front of her! She could've put the real Jaein in serious danger...
"Actors Lee Seungyeon and Lee Hyona will charge in as the ultimate 'villain mothers' who are willing to abandon each other—mother and daughter—for their own desires, stirring the nation with an 'acting ping pong show.' Lee Seungyeon will first embody the character Gong Nansook, the mother of Joo Youngchae (Lee Hyona) and stepmother of Joo Haneul (Seol Jeonghwan), demonstrating the essence of powerfully established charismatic acting. In the drama, Gong Nansook is a character with the financial acumen learned from her father, a notorious loan shark in Myeongdong, endowed with striking beauty, tenacity, and daunting hostility. Prioritizing money over love, she views her daughter Youngchae as a means to an end, employing lies to impersonate her daughter while attempting to utilize Cha Jeongwon (Lee Si-ah), who captured the heart of Geunhyang family heir Jin Sehun (Han Giwoong), in place of Youngchae."

They casted the perfect actress for the evil MIL tbh Lee Seungyeon can get ruthless and I'm excited to see her again in a daily lol
"Did you just ask me how I know? Because I'm the real Kang Jaein" Eunjung's delivery of this line is everything…
And... the Seungwoo/Yookyung ship has capsized. At least they both were mature about their role in everything, but damn, Seungwoo :(
I'm starting to think Seri's final punishment is her being locked in a mental hospital. She's already showing signs of delusion - she really thinks she's the real Kang Jaein.
Got curious during the scene where Seri was explaining her childhood motives to Gichan and how Jaein "stole" her name. (You could tell that Gichan wasn't with her explanation at all lmao) Per namuwiki Jaein's birthday is October 11th 1992. Seri was born October 1st 1992.
So technically, Seri being 10 days older, would be the "original", but like Gichan said, you can't steal something that's not yours. If anything, the mothers would be the ones beefing since children don't name themselves, but consider how Jayoung brought Seri's mother as a personal housekeeper, it seems like they had a decent relationship until Seri using Jaein's identity ruined it [and probably her mother's livelihood] and justifiably so.
Preview for next ep: turns out Mr. Do and Jaein should've listened to Miran when she suggested they hire a caretaker for Jayoung. It finally happens, Seri is gonna kidnap her next episode... Gichan is mad AF that he may be dismissed so he pays someone to frame Seungwoo. DH Group are going to be busy next episode!
"Did you just ask me how I know? Because I'm the real Kang Jaein" Eunjung's delivery of this line is everything - it gave me goosebumps omg
Honestly every time Seri crashes out she reminds me of a Chihuahua lol because no one takes her seriously despite being "the wife of YL group 🤡" 😭 anyway I totally missed the part about her extorting grown men for money as a minor and then claiming she was (real) Kang Jaein. what a nasty piece of work smh
This scheme with Exposé World may have been the best scheme Jaein has came up with. Also I'm glad Yukyeong took accountability and exposed her role in all of this... I find that way more respectable than throwing a fit and denying reality. It's a night and day difference from the shamelessness of Seri.
I'll give it to Lee Garyeong, girl can SCREAM lol
Also something else I discovered while on a namuwiki rabbit hole. All this time I had been wondering why Kang Taesung (Giman) seemed familiar - he was the evil, calculated ML in Fatal Promise (who would probably run circles around Gichan 😭) I know what I'm watching next haha
I also like how Osang took the advice Seungwoo gave him a few weeks ago and finally made it clear he doesn't actually like Sookja and isn't entertaining her anymore!!! The look on her face when he was like "I have something to discuss with my girlfriend" was so satisfying lol
Not Yunhee getting a revenge glow up of her own! I'm excited to see this side of her - she was iconic during that VIP tour lol
Btw the way Seri told Yunhee to "decide what she likes then come back later" lmfao you don't force clients out of a design studio the sole point is to let the clients take their time as they look for things 😭
I remember watching this when it first aired but I dropped it ep3 because Mucheol came off as one of if not THE most unlikeable lead character of all time...
I'm thinking about picking this back up again... 86 episodes later, how is the story holding up? Does Mucheol calm down or is he still "K-Scrooge"?
Since the subs are not out, I am enjoying watching the fashion show and the ambiance... Every scene has some flowers…
Spoiler this has nothing to do with the drama but your comment reminded me of something
"FYI Africans and African Americans still prefer women shaped that way, in case you feel too fat compared to the skinny Asian actresses, there is hope!!!!"
I'm AA and what you are saying is true... my mom ALWAYS used to body shame me for being "too skinny" and saying "no guy will want to date a girl with a small butt" - meanwhile we have been together for 5 years lmao - 🙄 (really it was kind of creepy how fixated she was on the size of my butt. I'm honestly surprised I did not develop an eating disorder or something) My perspective is - I think as long as the person is healthy it shouldn't really matter....
