Yeah, I'm not sure. If anything, it seems to be Northern Thais who can understand Central Thai without as much of a problem because I think Central Thai is the more dominant dialect, as a whole.
Can someone explain why some parts are subtitled in Thai? For instance, when Rang and Yod are talking to Tian,…
I believe it's because some of the characters are speaking the Northern Thai dialect and that Central and Southern Thai speakers may need subtitles to fully understand what the Northern Thai are saying.

I didn't see Kao as being necessarily colder in the concept trailer; "deadpan" is how I'd describe it. (Canadians, along with Brits, Aussies, and Kiwis, historically enjoy deadpan humour.)
I haven't written off the series entirely. I like Gene and don't mind Tum. With Tum, he's played in such a way that it's not outlandish for the female manager (sorry, I forget her name) to assume he's gay, but even with that why doesn't he say to her directly that he's straight, especially if he fancies her?
I'll watch for now, but if the next couple of episodes run strongly in this vein, I'll pass on the rest.
This is a perfect example of toxic labelling and exclusion. There is no such thing as a difference between BL…
JoeyBKK was not engaging in toxic labelling and/or exclusion. He kindly went out of his way to provide some links for larger perspective information and discussion about the genre.
I have news for you: a fair portion of the people that these stories are "supposed" to be about (men who love men) shun Y/BL because they feel as if it's a fetishisation of them, and not a particularly healthy one. Y/BL started as a genre written by women for women and can be more of a fantasised (I've seen it referred to as "voyeuristic") version of what male-male love is actually like.
I'm a gay male and I don't necessarily feel as strongly as others. In becoming a genre with an even wider appeal, though, well written series can appeal to both the traditional Y fan base as well as the actual LGBT+ community.
I was disappointed - I was really looking forward to this. FIrst, the sound effects. Fuck. A few well-placed ones…
I was looking forward to this based on the concept trailer. The final product felt OTT and riddled with stereotypical performances and characters: a strange choice for a show which is supposed to be making commentary on the genre. They scored a point with the "sexual harassment" (rape) line but how about the way the effeminate characters were locked in to their completely "acceptable" places? Not half so daring, there...
I was so looking forward to Kao's character based on the way he played it in the concept trailer. He was funny but in a far more subtle way. The guy showed he had the chops for some powerful work in UWMA but the episode practically turned him into a juvenile parody of the concept trailers character.
I can only think that they decided to aim this straight at the core demographic and anyone outside of that is out of luck. Pity...
I don't know, it looks very childish to me (all those sfx! jesus) and the acting was not exactly top notch...…
I agree. The way they played it in the original concept trailer was still comedic without becoming a three ring circus, like this first episode was. I feel that they decided to target this squarely at the pre and teenage demographic. It's a pity because recent shows have shown that there's a broader audience they could tap into.
Ha ha ha Not surprised!. It's so Thai. I do agree with you about the anime sound effects. Fun Facts : "Lovely…
I was just reading up on the target demographic of BLs in Thailand. Looks like they are geared toward pre and teen age girls. Does this explain the cutesy sfx and music?
I don't know if this series is going to work for me. The anime sound effects make me grind my teeth and a lot of the music is too bubblegum for my tastes. I much preferred the original concept pilot over most of what I saw in this episode. There's a lot of hammy acting going on. I'll give it another episode or two to see how it progresses.

My understanding was that Tul already had to put off going to NYC because of Covid. (He said it in an interview but I can't remember which one.) When he goes might be up to a few factors, such as when Covid restrictions are eased and how often the program he's taking starts in a year. (?)

(I've seen the word 'Lakorn,' before but I've only watched BL shows from Thailand so I don't know what Lakorns are like.)
