Title The Effect Spoiler
Has anyone here read the novel? How did the story end, there? With the series, I am left puzzled. Both Shin and Keng seemed to wonder if things truly need end the way they had. Both seem to step out into the street, out of view, and then the crashing sound. Is the novel as ambiguous?

Title The Effect
I am glad I watched this series and can say that I wish every Y/BL writer and series director would do the same. Semi/noncon is far too prevalent in the genre and should not be portrayed as anything remotely acceptable in love between men, or anyone.

I applaud the series for both unflinchingly portraying the horror of rape and its consequences without painting any either of the characters in a one-dimensional fashion. It also has important things to say about the toxic effect that social media can have in people's lives.

Another thing the series alludes to is the all too common pain, frustration , and rage that many LGBT feel as they come to find their place in the world. Anyone seriously interested in the topic can look for and read the excellent book "The Velvet Rage," for further insights and understanding to this seldom acknowledged, let alone discussed, topic. An important question to ask is if this series of events would likely have occurred if LGBT were accepted an affirmed from our developmental years?

I only wish the series could have been longer to explore these topics more comprehensively.

On a side note, I feel badly for some of the actors in this series because it looks like some of them haven't done a lot of subsequent work. I hope that is by choice and not as a by-product of being involved in controversial roles and/or subject matter. I think they can be proud of their performances and I thank them for having the courage to take on these roles.

Is there a link to the interview? Does it have English subtitles?
Thank you! I think he might well have been joking but Tul has said in at least one other interview that he would have been willing to do so and that it shouldn't be a big deal because Hollywood has been doing it for awhile.

It was love at first sight for Phupha and no one can (nor try to) convince me otherwise!Ep 3 was flawless! I loved…
Phupha is a man of limited words, but his looks can speaks volumes. The look on his face when he first met Tian did not say to me "Who is this person with the heart of my Beloved Torfun?" but "He's so beautiful, what am I going to do?"

Some of Phupha's initial sternness toward Tian can be further interpreted as Phupha almost wanting to push Tian away, so that Phupha wouldn't be forced to deal with his own, perhaps, never articulated or acted on attractions to other men. At least, that's what I'll tell myself unless the narrative directly contradicts that at some point. XD

I am, too. The best word I can think of to describe this series, so far, is "charming. " It hasn't been too saccharine…
LOL: I can put up with product placement if it's what allows me to watch!

As for Earth, he's been up to the challenge, as far as I'm concerned. (I might well be biased because I do think he's a genuine dreamboat!)

Okay, I'm gonna be weird right now. Some Dramas or BL you watch and you like it, but you don't really connect…
I am, too. The best word I can think of to describe this series, so far, is "charming. " It hasn't been too saccharine and I really like the journey of Tian's personal growth. The actor is doing a great job portraying the role and puts in a better performance than I've seen from some more experienced actors.

This is my first time seeing Earth perform and I've been charmed, again, so far. I'd read here and there that his acting is flat, but I don't find that the case. He has a subtlety with delivery that is accentuated by the looks and facial expressions he gives. The gentle touch of his hand to Tian's in the sleeping scene was heartwarming.

I think that the fact that the two actors knew each other before working together has lent a ease and natural aspect to their performances.

It was another good episode, even with the product placement that seems to be a hallmark of GMMTV productions.

OK. Your one post said you were enjoying it *less and less with each episode" so I took that to mean that your dissatisfaction had been going on for awhile.

I have another question for members...

Does anyone speak Thai or read Chinese? I'm asking because an interview with Max and Tul was recently posted:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcUJwpFroUQ

Unlike the first part, this portion does not yet have English subtitles. According to some comments, one of the topics involves A SECOND MANNER OF DEATH! I don't have a YouTube account so I can't inquire: this site is the first social media account I've started in years. Can anyone please share if they can understand either the spoken or subtitled text? I'm sure many of us would be grateful! :)

That's too bad. It just shows how subjective things can be because I've enjoyed this series more than any other BL I've watched by just about every metric from plot to acting to chemistry, etc. Hope there'll be something new soon that you can enjoy.

I have a question for anyone who speaks Thai.

In Ep 12, when Bun asks Tan, "Are you sure your plan is only to flee?" Tan replies, "Then what do you think it is for?" Bun then says, "Don't you know what time it is?"

I don't really understand this exchange. Was something lost in translation or am I just being dense?

Any help is appreciated. :)

It's a passion. Also, I would say that manipulation and coercion are de facto forms of abuse.

For what's it's worth, I'm a psychiatric nurse and I, too, feel that Peud and Jane's relationship was troubling. It's also worthwhile to note that the imbalance of power and Peud's ability to be coercive may well be magnified by cultural factors which inherently empower males and disadvantage females.
