Do y’all feel like there’s some choppy editing? Ep 6 and 7 feels very fast paced and has this weird choppy cuts to it.
Neither the less, they’ve kept most of the important arcs from the book, most are improved scenes which I really like. Some are ok, I’d like it more if they done it better but getting this far, I think it’s still going great.
I feel like every serious drama always has this comedy undertone to it which I also like for this one too.
Ep 7: That little angst moment was a prelude into their relationship in which they advance one and take two steps back the next day. It was a love-hate moment for me to go through lol.
(PS; I never thought I’ll see Tao Zi reincarnated as Wei Xiao. Looking at you Justice in the Dark}.
Does he give up on his revenge in the novel because of her? Kind of deal-breaker here.
He does… Not until the very end of it all. He knows in order for their love to work out in the future, he needs to let it go but he couldn’t. He tried but couldn’t, so he compromised and said that as long as her family doesn’t throw an attack on them, he won’t touch them. The plot is essentially all about WS hatred towards the Qiao’s and XQ trying to break through it.
I didn't read the novel but the preview of next episodes suggests his mother want him to take in his cousin as…
Yeah, she was that bad. 😂 I believe it was under WS’s order, but his subordinates did the chopping. I honestly don’t remember much about why but it had something to do with her attacking XQ and trying to kill WS family member at the end. He tolerated to the last chance and had her follow this rule which led to her nose being chopped. It’s the only scene I look forward to about her lol. If they cut that out, I’ll die.
I didn't read the novel but the preview of next episodes suggests his mother want him to take in his cousin as…
I think she was pretty schemy. I don’t know how they’ll portray her true to the book but I do hope we get to see her nose getting chopped off at the end.
I didn't read the novel but the preview of next episodes suggests his mother want him to take in his cousin as…
Yep, it was his mum whom was manipulated. She was so grief stricken that it turned into anger and lashed out. The ML was sorta ishy but his mother was not ok.
I understand. For me, The Spirealm ending was the one I absolutely hated. It released around the same time as JITD and it’s one of the recent BL censored dramas out I couldn’t get over.
I think they will include it. I don’t remember reading anything about why PS stopped going to LWZ. It’s a new scene added to create suspense. PS would often visit TZ more than LWZ. LWZ would take care of him from time to time that’s it. Pei Chengyu had once said for PS to stay close to the police as this will be an advantage for him to manipulate so. I don’t know, I speculate it’s either something to do with that or it interferes with PS plans. He had to create a facade and couldn’t involve LWZ nor did he calculate their relationship to be as great as it is now.
I see why everyone is worrying about it. PS looks worse for wear. I think it’ll end pretty similar. The drama itself is close enough to the book except they’ve changed around a few things. Because of where it ended, it means that the drama could adapt the sad ending style you were talking about earlier. Which I totally get why you’re worried. But honestly, for me, I’m still hopeful it’ll be a good ending.
No worries! You can ask me anything, anytime really. Animal abuse is not good. It shows up to show that murderers generally abuse animals but yh, fear not, Yiguo abuses people and things rather. I love cats too! But you either get a nice one, or a feisty one lol.
Yes, the cat stays mostly with PS, and LWZ but they took it to LWZ parents house near the end because PS was stuck in the interrogation room and LWZ had to do a lot of stuff, picking up after PS. They got the cat back though, and ended up getting another kitten.
Can you explain why you think PS knew LWZ was in the basement?
No, PS does not know LWZ was in the basement. He went up to his room and sat in his chair to think about what just happened and LWZ asking him why the house is the same as 7 years ago. He had an iPad next to him with camera monitoring but I don’t think it showed the basement.
The book is the same. He did not know until LWZ confronted him after the explosion.
LWZ called PS, but PS did not pick up so he said, not answering means his taking it as a ‘yes’ to look in the basement.
LWZ then watches the video and hears the screams over the You Raised Me Up song. He gets a message from Xiao Lan about the medications and realised what’s happening.
He’s imagining or ‘seeing’ PS walking through the door, get in the chair, and electrocute himself while watching and hearing the videos.
And then, the scene switches to LWZ knocking on PS’s door, saying he wants to talk to him, and if he doesn’t open the door after he counts to 3, he won’t knock again.
PS doesn’t open the door and watches LWZ leaving in his car through the iPad.
And the plot thickens… OMG, they went on a date without being on a date AH! They even opened ep 18 with Yiguo…
Ep 18: PS picking up LWZ after work wow, PS with a scarf on was sexy af. I think it was supposed to be around Winter during this arc but there’s no snow.
What I really liked was PS casually asking LWZ to act as XXN, and then proceeded to place his hand on the wall. OMG, him leaning in and then them both were just staring into each others eyes whilst talking. PS was even slowly leaning his body in. Like omg, that chemistry. LWZ shielding him with his body afterwards at the crime scene but PS said he was fine. AH!
They took out XXN trying to jump off the building so I wonder how they’ll handle this bit.
Ep 19: Seeing her disabled grandpa though was distressing. Their family looks like mine.
This case was the one I absolutely hated yet resonated a lot with. School bullying is not ok.
They casted mr superman boy with a plump boy but didn’t make Du Jia fat when he was? I’m proud of him though for standing up. But what happened to that section of the episode? That weird cut of LWZ being mad at him for trying to buy his silence lol.
Han Yang gradual exploding at the end was wow. I’m surprised they had him stop the call and realised he shouldn’t report the news to the reporters because they actually had him go through with it in the book. LWZ casually mentioning PS by the door and him walking out like, hi guys, was kinda funny.
Though, them talking with XHY at the very end in the interrogation room? That doesn’t sound private at all. Not sure how that’ll work out with the mole thing going on and cameras.
Nah. Yiguo was never hurt. That cat is just a fat fluffball which only likes to eat and sleep cooped up at LWZ home. The only times he suffered was
1. When it’s hungry. 2. Pei Su visiting. The cat was originally afraid of PS and would fly across the room to hide under somewhere. Plus, that time when it was a kitten. 3. When LWZ accidentally stepped on it or wouldn’t give in to its demands. 4. When LWZ’s mum had shaved it bald at the very end of the book.
You can’t tell a cat to act like Yiguo so we see it always just laying around in PS arms, not sure how it will appear next or if these scenes will still exist.
Actually during the confession, and drinking wine scene, that wine glass was knocked over causing the cat to lick up the wine and accidentally get drunk lol. Yiguo was mentioned a lot, such as how it can open doors, would wake up at night and inspect it’s territory, how it steps on and slept on people, and breaking things.
You ever get to see all those cat videos online doing one brain cell things? Think of those. That’s Luo Yiguo for you. No one can hurt the cat, but it can hurt you!
recently, Zhang Xincheng (PS) got a song request and the song was “you raise me up” and he got flustered and…
China’s entertainment industry including fans, is a double edged sword and is brutal sometimes. I’d like to hope that even though, they can’t talk about it now, it might in the future. Xia Zi Guang was able to talk more about The Spirealm after the rerelease outside of China but I guess that might have been that’s it’s not as popular as Priest’s work or been too demaging.
There was a comment years ago talking about how JITD wasn’t only banned just from the BL tag alone. It also had to do with the contents, the extreme police corruption portrayed apparently couldn’t pass review. We can see it just by how noticeable close to the book it already is. I was reading another book where the author even stated they had to change some details because they were afraid it would get banned if they had written how incompetent the Chinese police was. I think Weibo is already going through some level of censorship when they talk bad about the CCP.
(For anyone else who read Poyun or Breaking through the Clouds. Have you noticed there’s a page opened here on MDL? It was bought to be adapted but it hasn’t moved anywhere since. I genuinely believe it’s got to do with how heavily the plot was full of corruption everywhere worse than JITD that it’s going nowhere after TU incident and JITD being pulled).
I don’t think I’ve ever really seen a crime drama that wasn’t pushing how great their police department was.
Along with that, Chinese bl wasn’t trending until Guardian made it a hot topic, then The Untamed blew up and caused worldwide outrage and backlash because of what happened after with XZ, Word of Honor apparently had its released date pushed back abit but it aired ok (someone correct me on this), up and until this one which ended up being canceled at just ep 8, whilst Priest’s other non censored BL adaptations aired out just fine in Taiwan and I think was also licensed to view on IQIYI too (international yes, but not sure about mainland).
I think they’re afraid JITD will blow up like TU and cause another fanwar shocking incident world wide causing them to lose everything. I don’t think FXB or ZXC has the power to comeback like XZ did nor are they allowed to mention it because it’s been bought in Japan and is still banned in China. We can only hope one day, they might openly be able to mention it in years to come. :(

Yes, PS picked up a kitten at a shelter in the extra chapters, so they got 2 kids at the end.

LWZ coughing and clearing his throat the next second. OMG, that tension!
