I’m sad that the ending is this way but we all expected it. The finale was very well done and written despite it. Bless us all and them for coming through all that in the end.
I can’t tell, both perhaps? I was reading the illegal high spice version and not the published clean version nor have I watched this one so I’m totally gauging on the synopsis and people’s spoilers. Almost everything is different from names to plot. ML was military and FL a spice film director set in modern times but still has the elements of war present and having to go undercover on other missions. There’s no twin but still has that fake contract marriage theme. The plot is something in which censorship would obviously not pass so as a book reader, the changes were immense but it’s still the best they could do within their limits. As for the couple, I couldn’t gauge on their likeliness towards the written characters from the small snippets I’ve seen.
I decided to have a peak at the novel and I was genuinely double taking thinking I was reading a different one because of how different this adaptation was lol.
Has anyone read the book? I’m considering reading ahead of airing schedule but it sounds like there’s a a love triangle, love square thing according to synopsis?? The tag just says friendship?
Did I wish they could have stayed a little more true to the book in some scenes? Yes, but there were also new ones that were rewritten, and added in that I think it gave some more dimension to some of the arcs better than the book. Both has its own pros and cons. It was really nice to see Liu Mian Tang and Cui Xingzhou come to life. Though I did wish they could have added some sort of into the future epilogue as it felt everything was rushing up into a crescendo, villain subdued then just dropped a one minute ending.
Did I guess the plot? No, but did I suspect the person? Yeah I did. In the end, the confrontation was amazing because I was totally thinking the same thoughts HuoLe was thinking. The behaviour of that person was so off despite the relationship. The confrontation made me question just how accurate those cases were solved and to which dialogues was true but made to believe like it wasn’t what the truth was. I like the way it ended. They left a leeway for a second season, this guy isn’t going down that easily lol.
https://modustarter.carrd.co/#audio is the link. It’s on a site called misseven/maoerFM. There used to be a translator who subbed it but the files are no longer available. So the only way is to register an account, pay money to purchase the diamonds, use the diamonds to buy each season, and get onto an iPad or set the page to desktop mode to google translate the Chinese subtitles.
I’m noticing some short dramas like Blades Dance with You and The Revenge of Begonia all had this thing where Tencent released on the day but it won’t be available on the international WeTV page until weeks later with proper subs so I thought this is probably what they might be doing here but I’m not sure. Most drama’s internationally are normally behind schedule anyway but in general, I was really expecting them to release it out internationally too, I was prepared to spend the money on the membership and was hoping to watch it together with Are You The One thus I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t watch it upon it’s release.
I was super excited for this one, as Xia Zhi Guang seems to be playing a character with somewhat of a similar vibe to Ruan Lanzhu from The Spirealm. Plus, I haven’t seen Caesar Wu since General’s Lady time and I’m vibing with the plot. I’ve been on edge since the day they announced it’s going to release today, on my birthday, all to find out it’s only out on Tencent QQ with no subs and won’t be a while until they put it up on WeTV. 😭
I decided to purchase the audio drama and have just finished it literally last night. You don’t get the satisfaction like watching the drama with both the audio and visuals but it’s definitely a step up to listen to with the book as it follows very closely. It was really nice to hear Luo Yiguo’s meows and overall, the bickering couple, Luo Wenzhou and Fei Du relationship blossoming without the censorship blocking. I implore you guys to have a listen, it makes all the difference.
Even with only those 8 episodes out, it follows the novel quite well. I could totally pinpoint the scenes where they mashed dialogues together at different arcs and especially like where they briefly introduced the ‘villains’ at the end. It’s practically visually showing you what was hinted on those pages before they made a real appearance in the later half of the book. It’s a real shame we’re not gonna see the daylight out of it anytime soon. I was looking forward to vibing with the Master Cat, Luo Yiguo.
I decided to watch this on a whim, I knew that what we all wanted, a happy ending on much much better terms is impossible because of censorship when I started but it still hurts no matter how much you try to prepare. It hurt to know LJS spent all those years alone, not giving up.
Took me a week to read the novel. The screenwriter chose to rewrite most characters and reworked the doors to show a more tight knit relationship that they all have in which created a lot more emotional impact for us as viewers rather than as a reader.
It was exciting to read about Ruan Nan Zhu’s crossdressing and the obvious pining and teasing of Lin Qiu Shi as they progressed into their relationship in each door we didn’t get here. (Turns out on a Weibo live, Xia Zhi Guang said they filmed some scenes with him in woman’s clothing but they didn’t make the cut into the drama).
Each has their own pros and cons, I implore people to read the book because really, that ending hurts so bad.
Yes, so that whole thing about those 3 are complicated. You’ll see it as the drama progresses. LR and PWX were married, they were starting to like each other and become ‘official’ until something happened. PWX had a moonlight. LR couldn’t bare her expectations broken, she separated from PWX. Some other things happened, and she ‘fell’ for SRQ years later. She had been living with SRQ ever since for like some 20-30 years in that first lifetime. She liked PWX, tolerated him as a political partner after the separation but ultimately gave her affection to SRQ as a ‘male pet’ by her side.
Finally! Been waiting for this because it has the same novel writer of Destined. 🥰
I know!! The writing was great. However, I read the novel thinking it was going to be like Long Wind Crossing (Destined) and I was wrong. This one has way more political issues and revolves around the fl.
