Yes in an interview he basically said that LBY makes for a romantic drama hero but in real life his behavior would be considered toxic and you should stay away 😂

I just watched Dr tang which is a medical drama about a more mature cardiac surgeon (lady) and there are a couple slow burn romance lines in it but might be too different from this one for you

Right like when they are in the carriage headed to the palace and then the mom is like "Oh right! Here are some life saving rules for the palace --" and lists them off very quickly, and CSS is like "This would have been helpful if you explained when I had time to practice and remember. Telling me now is useless." They really made the mother character terrible in the drama -- constantly criticizing CSS without providing any actual constructive guidance or learning. I suppose hiring YS as a tutor can count for something, though it benefits all the Cheng children not just CSS.

From what I understand, CSS and LBY very much fall in love during engagement. But then sometime in Part 2 we will see that before they get married, LBY learns that his current "father" Marquis Chengyang was the one responsible for the massacre of the Huo family, and we will learn LBY is actually a member of the Huo family and that the woman we think is his mother is actually his aunt, who took him in as her son to protect him. LBY chooses revenge - kills his "father" and is condemned for it. His engagement with CSS ends up broken and LBY ends up in the frontier for five years. CSS works hard to clear his name. She also becomes very close to the Empress, who at some point is dying and expresses a wish to see CSS married before she passes. CSS ends up engaged to YS as a result (who has loyally stayed close to her this entire time) but doesn't necessarily love him. LBY comes back and they end up together. **If you watch the new MV for the show, there is a clip where you see CSS walking away from YS who is wearing official's outfit and he is in tears -- I think his heart will be broken in Part 2 and they will keep this engagement in the drama.**

Beautiful excerpt :) I definitely get why CSS falls for him! He treats her so differently and preciously, and looks like their relationship is eventually grounded in a real understanding of each other as real people. I just don't get why Princess Yuchang and the others he's so mean to would hang on. (It's like how Yuan Shanjian is so good-looking on first impression and then within an episode or two many are over it because the words that come out of his mouth are unbelievably obnoxious).
