I think there is some validity to what you're saying about who liked the real Xiao Liu/Xiao Yao but it's easier for 17 and Xiang Liu who are more familiar than Cang Xuan with transformation magic to even know that Xiao Liu is female so they had an upperhand there and not necessarily that Cang Xuan did not like Xiao Liu.
