It was interesting reading the novel thinking CX is the "male lead" and wondering how the author is going to bring him together with the female lead...and then finish with that not happening. It was only afterwards that I learned that she separated the idea of male lead and end game.

Xuan and the female lead are not blood related siblings in the drama, they are close family friends. In the novel they are cousins.
Yes Anian will eventually treat the female lead better. At first begrudgingly but then eventually Anian will mature.

But like ren said, the main character is Xiao Yao. The story follows her life and all the male leads play an important role. So even if their end game isn't marriage, they're still vital parts of the journey

2. No Xuan does not treat the half sister better. He is still nice to her but he loves XY. The reason he spoiled the half sister was that she was his substitute. He felt like spoiling her was spoiling XY.
Half sister likes Xuan and eventually she will be one of his many wives. She is conflicted, it makes her unhappy to share him with other women but she would rather have a part of him than a whole of someone else

Yes I got irritated with Jing for the same reason. His greatest strength is also his weakness. He's too kind. He's not delaying for a scummy reason but for family reasons. All the male leads have their own drawbacks but ultimately in my opinion Jing is the most compatible with her in the long run, after he learns his lessons. She wants a quiet ordinary companionship for life and the other two MLs have other priorities even though they do many selfless things for her and can be considered soulmates too.

OK i need to defend him about the political marriages. Both he and she have lots of people who want them dead so he needs power to protect them both. And after one assassination attempt on her, he took revenge on the perpetrators even though he needed them for political ties. In order to maintain those political ties, he agreed to the political marriages.

The toxic social media activities are not Wei Daxun's fault anyway. He's actually a victim of that as well because Yang Yang has a large fan base and now there are all these fans hating him for things that are out of his control.

I'm a big fan of Yang Yang but I've also been impressed by Wei Daxun's acting for a long time. Even though I haven't loved the dramas he's in, his acting has been reliable. In Shuttle Love Millenium he played two very different roles so well too. It makes me sad to see all this irrational toxicity and animosity.

Her mom may have been influential but we don't know for sure. What we were shown was that there was gossip and assumption that she had gotten the job through her connections but separately we do know that she is a talented doctor (even the old man acknowledges her skill)

It is possible that she could have gotten that job regardless of her connections because she is educated and talented.

In the novel Jiang Yu is the son of the man whose mistress was SY's mother. SY's mother had a son with him who was taken from her and raised by his wife. There's not much about him in the novel but Jiang Yu might be that son. Not sure if they're going to keep that in the drama but they did show the flashback about SY's mother while he was talking to Jiang Yu.

I also think he's doing well and acknowledge that there might be some people who still don't like his acting but there are likely a lot of antis. I have sympathy for Meng Yan Chen too. He is also a victim of his parents and he's really not that bad a person. It is possible to both love the leads together and feel for MYC's situation as well. I'm rooting for both Xu Qin and MYC to free themselves from their parents
