Can someone who read the novel tell me more about the plot ? I can't really figure out what the story will be…
Hmmm, the princess agent adaptation didnt follow the novel’s plot to the T, and since this rebirth/frozen awakening picks up from where princess agent left off, we cannot really say how the story will unfold.
In the novel, Chu Qiao was a transmigrator, a super spy agent - a commander at that - from modern world who transmigrated to this ancient world upon her demise. This is how she turned out to be very good at all those spy thing and military tactics, with her fighting ability even better than Zhuge Yue. In Princess Agent, Chu Qiao was the daughter of the head of Yanbei’s spy agency, who lost her memories after she fell off a cliff into the river during her fight with Yuwen Yue’s father, and later came under Yuwen Yue’s tutelage when she served as a slave in his household. At the end of Princess Agent, her birth mark fired up when she jumped into the icy lake to save Yuwen Yue, maybe awakening her powers bestowed by her mom before she died in her last mission. Zhuge Yue in the novel was just a noble who has supreme talent in military and martial ability while in Princess Agent he was in charge of the kingdom’s spy network, that is a rival to Chu Qiao’s mom’s spy agency.
But if they follow the novel’s plot loosely, Chu Qiao will fall out from Yanxun cuz she couldnt forgive him for setting up Zhuge Yue. While the rest of the world believed Zhuge Yue died in the icy lake, he would actually be saved by one of his Yue guards, goes to Mount Wolong to recuperate with his master, and later hide out in the desolate Qinghai, the barren land at the corner of the central plains where the kingdom’s exiles are dumped to. With his talent in military and governing, he will eventually become King of Qinghai after turning the barren place into a haven with bursting economy, and will secretly save Chu Qiao quite a number of times by aligning with Xiao (Li) Ce. They will find each other at one point after the icy lake incident (if im not mistaken, 2 years after in the novel), get hooked up, get married quite a few years later while navigating the politics in the kingdom and neighbouring kingdom Tang (Liang kingdom in the adaptation - Xiao (Li) Ce’s kingdom).
The novel had an extremely happy ending for the main couple. I read the novel 5 times cuz i couldnt move on from Princess Agent cliffhanger. 🤣
what i love the most about the novel is that Chu Qiao ventured out quite a number of times to lead the Xiuli army into battles, one time even while she was pregnant (but she only knew this quite later during the mission), and Zhuge Yue although very obsessive with partiachy ideals, has never stopped her from doing what she needed to do. Gosh i love this couple so much. Their subtle warm up to each other after she found out he was alive was the sweetest part of the novel. I really hope they follow this line at least.
But then again i just read some of the comments here, and they said that the production claimed that there will be no romance between ML and FL. Oh lord will I get disappointed even more than how Princess Agent did me? 😭
The most irritating character of all the c dramas I’ve seen. When she went into the Liubai bldg looking for…
Im on ep 20 now oh lord liu ran is so irritating. I pity her character as she keeps begging for Baili’s attention, but i just canttt stand them being together. She’s too clingy and it’s as if her script only has the word er lang on it. I ff most of their scenes cuz they look pointless and a waste of time. Cant they just do off with the romance like white cat legend? Who says ML and SML needs romance for a story to work?
I think the romance actually got in the way of the fast moving plot.
Guess i just fail ship baili and liu ran (i never liked fangirl type of characters) so i feel their scenes were pointless and a distraction to the whole plot. I dont mind subtle type of attraction like how gao bingzhu and wu siyue were having though.
If an historical mystery/thriller is your thing - this one is pretty good. Good production quality and the story…
I dont even like mystery/investigative drama but this one got me hooked right off from the start. Siyue kinda disappoints me after the first few episodes though, cuz i was expecting more badassness out of her. Seeing her so timid & submissive in front of her brother just made me go 🙄
For those who have read the novel or followed the filming — tell me, which ending should I expect? Because I…
With adaptation, cant really tell its direction based on novel cuz many production deviates. Based on A Moment but Forever (same author, same screenwriter, same universe), they didnt really follow the novel Tian Xia Wu Shuang closely. For example, in the novel, the ML was never treated badly by the clans elders, and ML never overcame by demon and became demon king. even the ML’s character was a total contrast from the novel (novel ML was this flirtitious, happy go lucky guy always looking for having fun while adaptation ML was gloomy and cold). I guess tweaks had to be made by the production to get the drama and tensions going. Though I liked much of the changes they made to the adaptation, i prefer the novel’s ending better than the adaptation of A Moment but Forever.
She’s a screenwriter, and some of her dramas are quite good, so i wonder why the producers of her novel adaptations wont hire her as the screenwriter? The deviations from the novel for princess agent really ticked me off.
I liked xu kai in wonderland and legends. But this one here, the FL is such a turn off. Since ive seen her in My Journey to You, i really cant handle that baby voice her character does (same reason i dont watch anime, the females’ cutesy babyish voice just tick me off). Like seriously. Maybe this drama is catered toward those preteen kids and not adults. 🤷🏻♀️
LOL. I just hope you don't watch older man/younger woman romances.
I used to think Leo Wu has babyface when i saw him on Fight Breaks Sphere, and wasnt convinced when i saw him paired up with reba on The Long Ballad. But when i finally watched the show, they actually looked good together and Leo has shed all that boyish look there. I hope it’s the same case with arthur too.
Ive seen quite a few of reba’s dramas and found she had chemistry with all her co stars, even with those whom i least expected of. Really hope they can light the spark here.
Can you please elaborate a bit more by what you mean about "appalling intimate scenes"... I want to buy…
Ooh so his character is exactly like in the novel. then i would definitely not watch it at all. I cant even finish the novel cuz the character disgusts me, let alone seeing it on screen. I dont like FL too because she always gives in to ML who is a narcissist bast@rd. She is like a trapped rabbit waiting to be devoured by the wolf and weak characters like this isnt my cup of tea. Thanks so much for sharing this.
LOL. I just hope you don't watch older man/younger woman romances.
What made I mention the age gap between reba-arthur is the poster actually. Dunno when they did this but arthur look so young like how i saw him on evernight (i heard he was barely 18 then) hence why i mentioned the babyface.
Didnt want to see them as younger bro-big sis like how i saw the main couple of Fighting for Love (fastforwaded most of their romance cuz i hated the ML’s childishness. This is not age case but how the ML was portrayed to be immature brat).
Am actually looking forward to see He Simu and Duan Xu, i liked the novel very much. Although He Simu is supposed to be 400years old, she still looks like in her 20s and Duan Xu is barely 20. So by their looks, there shouldnt be much gap.
LOL. I just hope you don't watch older man/younger woman romances.
Some 40+ men look young like in their 30s btw, especially thoze who really keep fit (likewise with the ladies). Point is as long as the age gap is not too obvious like parent-kid type of gap, then i dont get turned off.
LOL. I just hope you don't watch older man/younger woman romances.
Age gap of over 30years is not my thing. Like how the emperor is getting lovey dovey with his teenage concubine who is younger than his own daughters. Fastforwarded most of such scenes on Kill Me Love Me cuz i couldnt help seeing them as father-daughter instead of husb-wife.
Doesnt apply here of course. Age gap between reba and arthur is less than 10years i think, and with reba looking youthful its really not too obvious, especially if arthur has shed all those babyfat since i last saw him on Evernight.
Her suspicion irks me so much. For a woman who grew up with a man who was her childhood sweetheart, fellow disciple…
FYI, this is the discussion section. And the one i was responding to in the first place was not even you. I was just sharing my mutual opinion with them. Last i checked, people are allowed to express their opinions here, be it negative or positive. 😊 you can choose to converse with the comments that you agree with, and yet you decided to respond to mine, and then u you go off saying im the one who havent moved on? How laughable. And here i am already on my second drama after i dropped this one and enjoying the drama very much. Fact is, it’s you guys who won’t move on, so caught up with your fandom and acting so bitter about my opinion and keep tagging me here even after 7 days of my first comment, when originally i was just agreeing to the first comment, never intending to contradictand burst any of your fantasy bubble. 😌
It’s also funny how u keep saying im hating your fav actors when all i commented on was the characters 😂 i must have hated them so much that i rated their acting performance as 9, the only saving grace for this show on my review. You guys are truly a bunch of immaturely obsessed-driven fans. Sorry to burst your bubble with my honest criticism.
Grow up. The world doesnt revolve around your favourite drama or actors. Here’s a suggestion, why dont you guys stop tagging me and instead just move on to those comments who share the same obsession with you, then you wont keep seeing my response here. 😇

Lol ive dropped this loooonggggg ago. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ive watched dramas with actors and actresses that i didnt like and some of those dramas turned out to be good. I didnt like LiYunrui cuz hated his character in Love like the galaxy, and the two Meng ziyi’s dramas that ive watched aint that good, but they rocked Blossom and it became one of my fav drama of 2024. I never liked Yang Mi, even to this day, but i love Legend of Fuyao and Eternal Love. One of my fav actress is Zhao Liying but i dont love all her dramas. Some were boring and i have dropped them. I am very objective and i keep my mind open unlike you obsessed idol fans who are cooped up in your little fantasy world. When i watch a drama and it’s not to my liking to the point of annoyance that they needed a mention, then i will express my opinion and rate them as i see fit. Welcome to the mature world of the adults, kid.
