Absolutely there is so much pain. Especially in that famous snowy scene... when all the destruction and suffering…
I agree I was on the verge of tears and it's pretty hard for me to cry from dramas and movies. The snow scene is also one of my favorite drama scenes ever
I thought of something that isn't clear throughout the drama, how long does the drama take, like from Chang Ge playing in the Cuju game to the Chang Ge posing and then the book flipping, I think that would be around a little over a year to over a year and a half.
My reasoning is the Cuju game probably took place in summer. Then when Chang Ge is surrendering to Ashilie in Shou Zhou, it was snowing and then it stopped so that must be winter. That was around 1/3 of the drama and the reason 1/3 of the drama is around half a year is you need to count for the traveling time. Then I assume 6-12 more months of the events happen in the drama. Not sure if this is true or not though.
This drama did an important role in teaching me about body language and micro expressions and gestures which initially…
Agree, you can tell certain things like if someone is looking happy but there will be a depth underneath that happiness that you might be able to know just by looking at small details
I came around to better understanding Yi Cheng and why she did what she did but I still hate her. Imagine being just a normal person and having a small tie to the Imperial Court. Then you are immediately promoted to Princess just to fulfill a marriage agreement for peace. You willing sacrificed yourself, your happiness, your everything for a group of people (Sui) that actually don't really care much about you other than as a useful tool. Then you are tossed around Ashile from husband to husband being so restricted from life, anywhere beyond the camp/ capital, and even your own son. Like that must suck. I must admit, the Sui people who made her do it are sinister and maybe a bit selfish, but still. I like that Yi Cheng has a legitimately good reason for what she does, it makes sense, and considering what she has gone through, it would make sense for her to feel that way. Have to give credit to the manga writer for making a good villain.
When Leyan was discussing with Wei Shy Yu about her marriage to Ashile, she commented how Chang Ge is the best at faking death so maybe she should.
I don't think this is necessarily true, just that given the circumstances, people thought she was dead over and over again when she was alive.
-When Chang Ge fell into the river, I think a part of Wei Shy Yu thought she was dead. -When she surrendered to Ashile and they put up a notice that she was killed because she failed an assassination, people of Shuo Zhou believed she had died -When Xu Feng and Chang Ge tricked Bear Division into believing she was dead for a night -When a slave helped her fake death because Mu Jin and Sun knew there was a dude watching- LI Shi Min and Hao Du thought she was dead -When she went missing after saving Sun after his mother's death, maybe a part of Sun or Mimi thought she was dead -When Li Jing was talking to Li Shi Min about the fire ordeal and Chang Ge, for a second he thought she was dead until Li Jing said she likes reading, lol
So, at one point or another, some important characters like Li Shi Min, Wei Shy Yu, and Hao Du thought she was dead. Just interesting to compile and think about
Update: I am still annoyed by mimi guli and every episode, it's getting worse.
I agree lol, I just skip the scenes that are a bit boring and Mimi I just am annoyed by her no matter how hard I try to sympathize with her-probably is just her personality and the circumstances
I didn't find Mu Jin's ending satisfying. He kills uncle asshole and then is just left there standing. Of course…
I agree, he was a pretty important character as Sun's right hand man and his ending was just like plain I guess, didn't possess a lot of meaning besides killing the person who killed Mimi
On episode 18, Chang Ge says she is lucky to meet someone she cares about probably referring to Mimi and Sun replies with me too but referring to Chang Ge
Chang Ge still hasn't opened up her heart at this point and I don't blame her, so many of the people she was close with got killed and she doesn't want to hurt Sun either
Absolutely there is so much pain. Especially in that famous snowy scene... when all the destruction and suffering…
I agree, like she suffered so much just to find out her new friend was a leader of the enemy. She had suffered so much in such a short period of time. This hurt her but also built her into being almost indestructable feelings-wise because almost nothing would be almost to completely break her down in the future.
I also agree that she portrayed that scene wonderfully, I could see her gulp down all her pain and act respectful towards Sun while wanting to cry and break down.
love A Dou's talkative yet cunning personalityMr. Fang is kinda shading Du Minister when talking about Pin Xiang…
A Dou saved Chang Ge even though Chang Ge was rude showing how loyal he already was to her and that he would never betray her. This is a connection to when he died because he didn't betray Chang Ge.
Ashile Sun asking about Li Jian Cheng's sons and generals completeing not asking about daughters. This shows he didn't even consider Chang Ge to be a women in the beginning, her actions made her seem like a man because women were typically so powerless and supposedly 'weak' during that time period.
Lol, Mr Fang still shading Du Minister about Fang Commander's idea. Then Du Minister shades him back. These 2 are a funny pair lol.
Li Shi Min wants Chang Ge alive again showing how he still cares for her.
Another iconic thing "To ensure the stability of our Tang Dynasty, I dare remove more obstacles, let alone Chang Ge." said by Du Minister. What he doesn't know is if Chang Ge was dead or in prison, Tang Dynasty would have become weaker from Ashile attacks and Yi Cheng's plots. These were things that Chang Ge all took a big part in. And Du Minister wants to kill the person who in the future will save him at Liu Yun Temple, ironic isn't it?
The dude the fishmonger was describing is somebody from Ashile probably. They wanted to get all the insights on Prince Qin, and the Tang royalty to plot a a takeover of the Tang probably.
Chang Ge can notice all the people waiting to catch and kill her in a large crowd, showing she is ahead of the enemy. Maybe it was too easy to spot since she knows very well what they look like.
Ashile Sun also very cunning knowing what would happen when Yaro comes back from seeing the fish monger.
Lol Sun just "chilling" while the soldiers chase Chang Ge but meant to chase him.
The fish token- Chang He has something to report and give to Hao Du.
Hao Du threatening Wei Shu Yu once again, he will have to betray Chang Ge
Sun already knows of Chang Ge's crimes.
Lol Yaro and Shu Yi She's conversation, Yaro already noticing differences the way Sun treats Chang Ge.
The part where the guards check the caravans is like a horrible airport security check lmao.
Chang Ge hiding in the caravan- one step ahead of Hao Du again but not for long
Unbeknownst to Hao Du, Chang Ge was hiding in Ashile group's caravan and Ashile is an enemy to Tang.
Sun teasing Chang Ge about being a girl when she really is, lol.
Chang Ge must have felt horrible knowing Wei Shy Yu was the one also chasing her after all that happened.
When Hao Du said "Chang Ge, You have no way out." Chang Ge again proved them wrong by going on the bridge and even though she fell, she got saved by Sun, so that was the way out.
Wei Shy Yu didn't want Chang Ge to be shot by Hao Du so he shot her in a less deadly area.
Sun really is Chang Ge's savior, he saved her at the river and many other places. If Chang Ge had been caught by Hao Du's men, it would be much harder for her to escape. She would probably be kept in a very tightly secured place and that would be horrible for her. Worse, Hao Du and Du Minister would probably treat her horribly. So Sun stopped this from happening, thank goodness, but then again it was fate because he was destined to help her.
Episode 3 Thoughts, What I Noticed And Connected (based on somebody rewatching)
love A Dou's talkative yet cunning personality
Mr. Fang is kinda shading Du Minister when talking about Pin Xiang Store lol and Du Minister shaded back maybe knowing Mr. Fang did the fire
Li Shi Min wants to pardon loyal followers of his enemy showing how kind his heart is
When Chang Ge bumped into Ah Zhun was one of the couple other times they would meet randomly in Tang.
The Dus' kinda forced Wei Shu Yu to do whatever they wanted and be loyal to Li Shi Min threatening his family and father and I really dislike this.
Li Shi Min still cares for and loves Chang Ge even if she tried to assasinate and she hates him showing how much he cares for her even and even let her stay in a nicer room as a prisoner.
Ashile Sun is getting more interested in Chang Ge because of her actions but will soon fall in love with her when knowing she is a women.
I feel bad for Leyan because Chang Ge is now unfriendly to her not knowing what happened. I feel somebody should have told Leyan what happened but they know she was too timid at the time but still. Chang Ge was too smart for Leyan and Mr. Fang's plan to work and she got her own plan to escape.
Chang Ge probably had a rough idea of how she was going to kill Li Shi Min with the help of the Seal of Crown Prince.
Chang Ge even now had a pretty clear vision of what she wants to do. Normal people would be in shock and grief for quite a while, while Chang Ge immediatly started on her revenge plans. This shows she is super strong and shows that even this could not break her
Episode 2 Thoughts, What I Noticed And Connected (based on somebody rewatching)
Retinue Wei hated Li Shi Min at first but he later realized that Li Shi Min is actually not evil
I have another theory that Ashile intervened and played some role in the death of Li Jian Cheng and his family because in an episode Ashile Sun says something like I underestimated Li Shi Min meaning that he let go Li Jian Cheng's loyal followers and he got less hate. This might show they wanted to destroy the Eastern Palace people and Li Shi Min, I am not sure though.
I feel bad for San Niang because she was stabbed by Chang He when trying to save Chang Ge, Also I thought that the actor playing Chang He and Shen Gu were the same people but I was wrong, they look kinda alike
Based on the knife she gave Second Uncle, she made the wrong assumption, she thought he killed Lady Jin with It but Lady Jin killed herself with it.
Chang Ge jumping into the river/ stream to escape from the soldiers has a meaning of her almost always being able to find a solution or strategy for any given situation; the soldiers didn't expect her to jump into the river but she did.
I feel bad for Leyan, she barely knows the whole truth of what is going on and her best friend is missing.
A Dou suggested stealing Lady Jin's stuff not knowing the person he was talking to was Lady Jin's daughter, ironic.
Lol, the soldiers just stuffing pastries into their mouth not caring about a thing.
Chang Ge made a pledge thinking she was gonna kill her Second Uncle but her mother was her mother's murderer so that would be invalid meaning she would have to kill her already dead mother which does not make sense so it cancels out so Chang Ge didn't go back on her pledge.
The sarcasm by Du Minister, looks like our old friend, but he already thinks Chang Ge should be killed.
My reasoning is the Cuju game probably took place in summer.
