Here are my two cents as a danmei reader of six years with limited Chinese reading proficiency, so I only read short danmei in Chinese and more popular, longer ones in English. Consider Silent Reading (Mo Du / 默读). It has an official English translation in progress with five volumes so far. It's a crime drama danmei with charming leads, lots of push and pull, and a degree of enemies to lovers. The angst comes from the cases, not from the leads mistreating each other.

As for Thai BL novels with official English translations that have angst without toxic relationships between the leads, check out works by Sammon (who's actually a medical doctor), like Manner of Death, Spare Me Your Mercy, Triage, and others in an interconnected universe. Many of these are set in the same universe. Also consider novels from Patrick Rangsimant (also a doctor), such as My Ride, I Love You and Imaginary Boyfriend.

Shi Yuhao: My first thought when seeing his scheming face in Episode 9 was, "Not this snake again!!!" The bear in Molie that chased Xu Changyang and Feng Qinglang many episodes ago should have detoured and eaten Shi Yuhao when he was lurking in the forest. Guess he's too bitter and poisonous even for a desperate bear to eat 🤷🏾‍♀️

I agree. I'm so happy Park Siwoo and Kim Yoonsik are booked and busy due to the success of the this show. During a reaction video, Kim Yoonsik promised he'd dance while Park Siwoo ran a coffee cart if the show got to number one on Wavve. I think it has! I can't wait to see that.

The way his eyes rolled back in pleasure almost killed me. To me, it was perhaps the most erotic part of the series so far. Bravo.

Thank goodness Oh Jahyeon isn't my mother. Her characterization left me deeply unsettled. I do love a baddie, so I'd totally watch an entire series about her. Props to the actress Seo Hangyeol.

I have heard that the viewership numbers are not very high. If that is true, what can we do to attract more attention to this show?

I also love how the bear and whale emojis match two of the lead actors so perfectly. Xiong Yiwen has the surname Xiong 熊 🐻, which is the Chinese character for bear. Liu Jingyu has a given name that sounds very similar to the Chinese word for whale, 鲸鱼 🐳. As a Chinese learner, finding these little connections brings me so much joy.

That's very sweet of you! I had watched a lot of Thai BL during the pandemic, but completely stopped after watching and enjoying Bad Buddy and KinnPorsche (mostly for Apo and Bible) in 2022. Then in 2025, I watched and enjoyed TopForm. Bad acting, bad writing, and plot holes are things I do my best to stay away from.

Should I start watching this one? I haven't finished a Thai BL series in a very long time. I'm wandering into this space from the land of Chinese BLs and Korean BLs.

I want to be like that grandma one day. She's so warm and affectionate and she absolutely clocked Xu Changyang's deep care and affection for her grandson. Xu Changyang really is a mastermind of love capable of charming the older generations and making it crystal clear he is the ideal grandson-in-law. He must have been reincarnated from another age.
