I applaud Zhang Xincheng, he looks like a typical cute and sunny boy with his big doe eyes, but he can actually nail Fei Du/Pei Su's role, which is a very complex character - as Luo Wenzhou said in the novel "cobra in the shape of human". He is a very talented actor.

Most likely they were not prepared beforehand since it dropped so suddenly. But yeah, they can quickly hire translator instead of asking for volunteers. After all, if we pay for VIP we should get decent translation. Maybe it is also the reason why Youku didn't even promote it on their Twitter.

Probably best to treat this drama as a stand alone story and manage our expectation, since we don't know what changes they will make later on due to censorship. But as someone mentioned before, ZXC is perfect as Fei Du, I can watch this drama for him alone :D

At least from the first few eps the case still stick quite closely to the novel's plot, except of course the sci-fi theme. They even keep some little details from the novel too, eg: Tao Ran's old bag, the parking fines (lol), sesame oil-flavored coffee, etc.

Ep 1-2 is already released in Youku app! But the translation is still machine-translated.

Various reasons, some people feel the the ending is not good enough, some expect more BL content, some think that the cases are not intriguing enough. Aside from that, this drama itself deserves praise for its beautiful cinematography and solid chemistry between the casts.

Not too high, but not bad either considering how harsh Chinese viewers can be.

Anyone knows how this drama is doing in China? As far as I know, based on Vlinkage chart, it's been the top airing online drama during its run, which is quite impressive considering its very little promotion and marketing.

My final rating is 9/10. I know this drama is not perfect, many scenes are cut and some cases may not be very well-written. But I was bewitched with JBR's Lan Jue and his smooth and flowy unbound long hair, so forgive me if I ignored all other flaws. How can a man be so damn fine, no wonder all the guys willingly flocked to his harem.

Totally understandable, with his looks, smart mind and elegant demeanor, he is literally a rare orchid surrounded by countless bees XD

In the novel he has a son, he is a crybaby and LJ indulges him a lot. I think that's cute lol

Totally agree with you, Lan Jue is my fave character here. He is such a complex one, he can be cold, elegant and scheming, but he can also be very kind and gentle. He also has close friend and attendant who are very loyal and willing to sacrifice their life for him, so envious! :)

Even though I understand that for native speakers, the line delivery can greatly impact the enjoyment when watching drama but for intl audience, it doesn't really matter much. SWL's acting can be stiff at times, but he gets better as the story progresses. I really enjoyed the beautiful cinematography, exquisite sets and props and especially JBR's acting. He is really good with micro expressions and he gives off the aura of an elegant and sophisticated nobleman. I even subscribed to WeTV VIP just to watch this drama :D

The aesthetic of this drama is really pleasing to the eyes, all the setting and props look exquisite. Loving the besties here (Chen Chou and Wang Yan), best kind of friends who will always watch your back. Did I mention Xu Dong? The way he rolls his eyes are hilarious!
