Thanks for sharing this interesting knowledge! I noticed the yellow filter particularly in izakaya in Ep 3, many fans also noticed they made fun by comparing it to The Simpsons lol.
Yeah, I don't think they used much filter for faces, Japanese drama is less concerned about the appearance compared to let's say, Chinese drama. Some of them, esp historical dramas, the actor/actress' face are filtered so much they look so unnatural :(

It is interesting to have someone review it from the camerawork/editing point of view, since I don't have any knowledge of it. One thing that I noticed though, in some scenes (esp in the elevator corridor at night and izakaya in Ep 3), the yellow filter is quite thick. You can see that the actors face are very yellow, but their hands are still white. I heard it's Japanese filter preference, but I'm not sure why they need to do that. Other than that, I don't notice anything funny.
Oh and can you tell if the actors' face is being applied filter or not just by looking? My understanding is Japanese drama/movie don't usually put too much filter on the faces. If that's so, I'm so impressed with Machida's face, he is so glowing especially in Ep7, he truly is the personification of "mabushii" XD

I'm looking forward to his guest role in Cold Case 3 Ep6, it should be aired in about 2 weeks time. He will play a horrible character, so I'm very curious if he still has traces of Adachi there.

Yup, and he is always humble and uses polite language during interviews, live or shows. So watching him being rough and swearing in his delinquent role is a different experience lol.

I watched some of Machida's past works to get over my CM separation anxiety and noticed that he often plays delinquent or rough guy type of characters (AIB, Bijo to Danshi, LDK, Nusumareta Kao). He also once said that he often got those type of roles due to his looks. I don't understand? He has such a beautiful face and his real personality is very humble and gentle. Among Gekidan members, he is the most calm and soft-mannered one. Kurosawa should be the role closest to his personality, no wonder he portrayed it so perfectly.

Ah Long-ge.. same as you I fell in love with his Shen Wei, it's like he was born to portray Shen Wei. He is such a good actor and has so much potential, but I always feel pity since he has been in so many crappy dramas and most of his roles are similar (characters who are miserable and full of tragedies, and always got rejected by the main female character lol). Is it because of his beautiful peach blossom eyes?
I wish he would have more chances of getting better scripts and variety of roles. I would love to see him playing a cold-blooded criminal or a psycho, I think that would be interesting!
