I have to appreciate the production team for respecting the original work. Shi Guang's name means "light" which is the same meaning as Hikaru and Yu Liang's name means "bright" which is also the same meaning as "Akira". Even Yu Liang's Go board has the name inscription "Akira". I'm sure the fans of the original work will appreciate this a lot. No wonder the rating in Douban is pretty good at 7.6, which is quite impressive for an adaptation of such a phenomenal original work.

I agree, Seven Days live action didn't do justice to the manga. The acting is rather stiff and cringey, it took some efforts for me to finish watching the movie.. a better remake is needed!

The other posts have explained it well, they are peers therefore they don't use honorifics to each other. Usually you call someone by their first name when you're really close, like childhood friends or family, otherwise it's not common to call by their first name.

Watched up to ep3, woww this is much better than I expected!! It's hilarious and I really really like the cast for Shi Guang (Hikaru) both for the 9 year-old one and the teenager one. Their acting are just spot on! Overall the acting are really great, including Chu Ying (Sai). I read the manga many years ago and can't really remember the whole story, but I read a review that so far it's still faithful to the manga, which is quite rare for Chinese adaptation since many of them are just pure disasters. I notice that they even put the names of the manga author below the title at the opening, which is very respectful, and they also even adapt the ending song from the anime! I really hope this pace and level of acting will be maintained till the end, and not to inject many filler scenes, otherwise it will be very sad!

In general Japanese adaptation is quite faithful to the original work and this one is no exception (can't help but comparing to some other countries disastrous adaptation *cough*). There are changes in the scenes and timeline order, but the core remains the same with manga. I won't spoil anything here, but up until the last volume of manga, I can assure you that there isn't anything creepy or aggressive and I don't expect anything like that either in the future plot given the tone of the story. It is a very slow-burning romance story compared to the other usual BL story but I find this very satisfying.
