More screentime together. They hardly meet in most episodes, the ML disappears for several eps, etc. It isn’t really a romance drama I guess but the promos here (poster, synopsis) made me think there’d be more focus on their relationship. Both are badass characters in their own right but there’s a dissonance in how it was promoted and how it plays out IMO.

I thought she'd be young in the intro scenes/eps and then play her age, and that'd maybe be okay (they could've still cast a younger actress for those early eps). But no! They just kept her age. At the halfway mark she's about 20 years old. Then why have her play this character? I mean, I know she's an amazing actress and all that but it felt so silly having a 40 year old play half her age.

It's beautiful with lots of interesting characters but didn't really grab me. Dropped at halfway mark. Maybe I had a different expectation re: the romance. I wanted more but it feels like an afterthought in the drama. Would've liked to watch it all but nah.

He was a treat! What an awful person and full fledged villain. Would love to see more of him.

I know! They could’ve easily just used Korean actors, still filmed with the yellow tinted lens, vaguely talked about somewhere abroad and not mention Africa at all. Such an unnecessary and stupid move in an otherwise (imo) excellently entertaining drama.

The third brother (the fortune telling one) is actually her twin.

If there ever was a drama that had room for a scene where the FL tends to/undresses the ML for some reason (not necessarily a sex scene) and gets awestruck by his infinite amount of scars, this was it. Feel some kind of robbed.

Good thing they kept her hidden from the public for so long I guess. Three different men fell in love with her at first sight as soon as she peeked her pretty little nose into society. Can you imagine the havoc she could’ve wrecked if she wasn’t hidden away from the beginning?

I’m so happy to see these comments where y’all put it much more eloquently than I ever could. Thank you! I literally groaned when they appeared together before the last arc, going to rescue the CP and the village. Like, what was her claim to competence that she’d command the whole Black Guards and even her parents, the seasoned war veterans? Scenes like the bridge destruction and lock picking made sense; she was technical, had that engineer brain. But how was she suddenly this super accomplished detective? Rescue team leader? Apart from her manipulating ML to give in and let her play along?

Wow, you just nailed it for me, thank you! I still don’t get what exactly he was supposed to do. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood for understanding her kind of reasoning. Him not going to the village to ’rescue’ her at the end just to prove a point… it all felt so contrived.

Binged this and there were some stellar moments but couldn’t really take it seriously. FL was fun but felt like a Mary Sue after a while and I groaned at most of her choices. Idk why, most people seem to love her.

That said, The Red Birthday Banquet should get all the awards ever because it was EVERYTHING. Say his name folks: Huo… Wu… SHANG!.. [dies]

Well well well… I more or less binged this with a generous amount of fast forwarding. It got better, with an addictive love story of the obsessive kind.

Just getting started with this one but the first four eps are so boring :(. The humour doesn't appeal to me, there're lots of people I don't care for (yet?), the hero looks like a villain (sorry) and I haven't found a connection to it in general. Have heard/read good things about it so will try to continue though. All ready to be swept off my feet. - Come on show!
