Thank you for a well thought and beautifully expressed article, Wiam. You did a great job of showing the complexity of Sigma without giving away big spoilers. To me, he is a tragic character in that his actions are fueled by the need to be accepted and maybe even loved, and yet - when he cannot get the love and attention he desired, so he adapts a sort of "to hell with you attitude" - I'll show you. He is caught in a circle of Catch 22.
BTW, I always liked Kim Byung-Chul, and I also especially loved him in the character just prior to this one - in "Pegasus Market." I thought it was so hilarious
This really saw a theatrical release here in America?? Wow! I'm guessing only the biggest of markets Los Angeles,…
oh, I remember you telling my about Romance of Our Parents, a few days before Netflix rudely removed it, and other Chinese shows without prior notice. I was watching All Quiet in Peking at the time, and got to ep. 45/53 before Netflix removed them. Now, Netflix no longer let us know of any removals ahead of time. Just google what is coming off Netflix. I am not finding Romance of Our Parents anywhere. Please, do tell me if you find it anywhere, too. Did you know there were actually 2 Seasons of it? https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/fu-mu-ai-qing
I have loved Youth so much, that I have watched it several times. First couple of times at the theater (San Francisco), and a few times online. I like this Director - Feng Xiao Gang ever since watching his films "Aftershock" . He also had a fun movie "If You are the One." Sadly it is not easy to come by anymore. Only part 2 is more available, but useless without part 1, which was also a lot better IMO.
I have added Reply 1988 to my watch list, based on your recommendation.
I'll try to watch Reply 1988 before it leaves Netflix at the end of the month. Thank you for the recommendation.

I fell in love with Liu Ye in "Beautiful Life" with Shu Qi. It is also on Netflix.
