First, im not suprised.
Second this drama has twisted most tropes - delivering something unexpected.

and I wanted the Xu parents to have that conversation with Lan Xiang.

Even an arranged marriage can have a discussion.

So he did request the marriage.

Mo one has asked Lan Xiang ehat she wanted.

I am unclear if she knew about the Han proposal or not and how accepting she was.

they kind of deopped the ball on that FOR ME.

I am only assuming Jin Qi is trying to stop other families from taking advantage of marriage for an alliance or really just to use him.

thats good strategy but disrespectful to Lan Xiang.

id like to see how this plays out. but the proposal and the decree, neither sit well with me.

I don't think it is him - because this was a plan they knew about. I also think the argument to get on stage was also staged. I hope so - or else Yuan's house is going to be in a lot of trouble for not protecting CP.

True because I am sure in real life most kings, emperors, princes, princesses and empresses were below mid in the attractive department.

I was not expecting to like her in this drama - but I think they provided a perfect script for her and the hair and makeup team and costumes are really pulling out her best features. I am a "Tan is cute, but not attractive - TO ME" and I am so sick of that bob cut on her .😂

That is still just appearance. You can not see passed what you see in regards to the characters appearance to pay attention to the story. If that is how your mind prioritizes things - there is nothing you can do about it. It is actually a psychological thing. Attention bias, halo effect and visual hieracrchy - are all of what you experience when a scene does not catch or keep your interest because of someone's appearance, it could even be the quality of the clothes they wear, or their hair styles. Believe me - I am not opposing your experience. As I stated - I have experienced the same thing - when it comes to appearance and language. But look it up - you may find it interesting to read what you are actually experiencing and that others have the same experience.

If your decision is based off of her looks alone - I can see your point. But you would be missing out on a lot of things - if you solely based it on appearance alone. Don't get me wrong - because I too have a thing about appearances but I usually allow a balance between their appearance, production and the story. FL - is a great actress. I don't usually find her attractive in most dramas - but I think they presented her nicely in this one. I think I can honestly say that I have been bias to dramas or at least one that she was in - the Brocade drama - 😂 I think I did not like her character, but I surely did not like her appearance. I believe I dropped that- so I totally get your point. It all boils down to preference.

I'd rather accept it or else it will ruin the drama for me. There will be more moments like this. I think the writers - thought of these trope twists - but did not weigh logic over difference. So - I do believe there will be more side-eye moments

The reason Lan Xiang can not be mad at Jin Qi

1. She brought her drama to the Crown Prince
2. She gave the emperor a way to stop the Lin family marrying to another family of power
3. i doubt Lin qi requested the marriage. that would not be something he would do without first confessing and getting her agreement.
