For some reason, I had low expectations for this movie but I was really surprised by how funny the writing was and how entertaining the characters were.

I thought My Tutor Friend 2 would be much like the original My Tutor Friend a boy meets girl, high school romance with some angst thrown in the mix. My Tutor Friend 2 is actually more of a light-hearted, fun comedy that appeals to rom-com lovers.

Having seen Lee Chung Ah's stiff acting in Flower Boy Next Door, I wasn't expecting much out of her but she surprised me in this movie. Her acting was very natural and convincing. This is my first time seeing Park Ki Woong act, and his mischievous smiles and wicked expressions left me wanting to see more of his work. Jong-man (or "Junk-man" as Junko refers to him) provided a lot of humor with his bad attitude and misguided lessons. The supporting characters were also a source of much of the humor in this movie. Jong-man's father and Jong-man's two sidekick best friends create some hilarious scenes. The play fighting scene between Jong-man's best friends is one of the most hilarious scenes I've ever seen. Just recalling it makes me laugh out.

For anyone on the edge about watching this, or like me having low expectation for it, I'd say wholeheartedly watch this movie. It's a fun watch and you will be left feeling satisfied with a grin on your face.

It Started with a Kiss is a solid drama with great acting, wonderful characters and a cute story. This drama remains one of my favorites and the only drama that I've ever fully re-watched in its entirety.

This drama captivated me from the very first scene, where Xiang Qin gives Zhi Shu her love letter and he in response asks her if she has nothing better to do with her time.

The fluid acting and chemistry between the actors is what sets this drama apart from the other versions of the series. The subtle acting is what made this drama for me, for example, even when Zhi Shu's appears cold and indifferent towards Xiang Qin he is constantly taking glances at her when she looks away.

It Started with a Kiss had a great supporting cast. There were no over the top villains or truly unlikable characters. Zhi Shu's family in particular, especially his mother was quite hilarious with her not-so-subtle hits and interfering.

When watching dramas I'm always rooting for the male lead and female lead and I find second leads to be annoyances to the main couple, but in this drama I seriously questioned who the female lead should end up with. Ah Jin as a character with his unwavering love was quite endearing and his final confession to Xiang Qin really drew on my sympathy (it gave me the same feeling as Jeremy's confession in You're Beautiful).

So overall It Started with a Kiss is a great light-hearted drama filled with likable characters and entertaining humor that takes you through a journey of unrequited love.

Was not what I expected.

I expected a kdrama style romance comedy. Rich Man, Poor Woman felt more like a anime and a coming of age/ slice of life type show. As a result romance felt lack luster. More humorous than hilarious. As a coming of age story entertaining enough.

LONG REVIEW
=================================

I'll start of by saying this is the FUNNIEST drama I have seen.

I'm a sucker for light-hearted romantic comedies and this drama was a very satisfying watch.

This drama doesn't take itself too seriously and never succumbs to the overly serious drama scenes that plague typical kdramas.

CHARACTERS / ACTORS
Seo In Guk is remarkably lovable in this. As Lee Min Suk and fake Lee Hyung Suk he is funny and playful but never to the point of being childish. Fans of Seo In Guk in Reply 1997 will love him in this as well.

Lee Ha Na as Jung Soo Young was very kooky. The actress convincingly portrayed a quirky woman. I can see some viewers not being taken with her character but if you take the character Jung Soo Young at face value she's a lovable character. Til the end, Jung Soo Young never looses her kookiness.

Other than the leads, the side characters including the office workers, and Min Suk's school friends were hilarious in their own right. These side characters had their funny little stories and truly gave the drama a richer feel.

STORY
At its core High School King of Savvy is a romance and the plot takes the backseat to the romance. The plot development was interesting at the start, and not too much as to weigh down the drama. However, the resolution at the end was a bit unsatisfying in its simplicity.

REWATCH?
There are many scenes I would rewatch in the future but as a whole no.

MUSIC
I'm not too much of a drama lover but there was one song that caught my ear which I later found out was actually sang by Seo In Guk (Finding Myself). Wonderful surprise.

I absolutely adore Gong Hyo Jin as an actress but I think I just never really liked the character Ji Hae Soo. I was more interested in the main character's stories outside of each other than their relationship. I was more fascinated by Jang Jae Yeol's trama and relationship with his brother and enjoyed the relationship between the roommates Ji Hae Soo, Jo Dong Min and Park Soo Kwang than I was interested in Jang Jae Yeol and Ji Hae Soo getting together.

A romantic thriller that is more thriller than romance. From the description and the preview image, I expected a feisty rom-com with some crime fighting thrown in the mix. Instead, what you get is a great ensemble case that tells a morally questionable story of two brothers.

Comedy is well incorporated through out the drama. And while the atmosphere of the series isn't lighthearted, it isn't so heavy that laughter is unwelcome.

While there may be chemistry between Jang Na Ra (Cha Ji An) and Seo In Guk (Lee Hyun)--and maybe a few other cast members,-- the viewers never truly experiences it because romance is minimal at best with each episode containing just enough romance to keep ships sailing.

By the end, I was left feeling oddly teased, somehow inspired and thoroughly entertained. Overall, although this is not the type of drama I typically watch this drama it is credit to it's cast and crew, especially the writers. The plot felt well thought out and well developed and the characters felt realistic in their motives and flaws.

This drama filled me with so much hate.

I'm a huge fan of romantic comedies and I absolutely both side love interest in this. Kang Hye Won set the standard for dislikable second female lead. Just a terrible character, manipulative and a user. Yuck. Yu Min Hyuk is the same, just the worst.

This made me a fan of Song Hye Kyo and even though Rain's character is sort of a jerk, it doesn't stack up to the bad behavior of his terrible friends.

Saw the Taiwanese version of this first.

Personally I enjoyed this Korean version more. Found the start a bit hard to get into. Initially the characters were a bit too silly for me. Once you get an idea of what to expect from the show it becomes bearable and even a bit fun. The character Lee Gun made this an enjoyable watch. About as much melodrama as romance and comedy with quite a bit of angst. Personally not a fan of angsty romance, but if you're in the mood for it, enjoy.

I had extremely high expectations because of Reply 1997 and therefore was left feeling a bit disappointed. On its own, I'm sure this drama is enjoyable enough and a good way to pass some time.

I'm writing this review after some time has passed and really can't remember much from the show, nothing really stands out. That's not to say this is a kdrama clone, but, sadly, feels like nothing remarkable happened and no real stand out characters.
