I was SO SO excited for TSOPG - but after several eps (not sure how many) it didn't go so well for me and I dropped it with great disappointment at a lost opportunity.
The Long Ballad is on hold for me.
It has a STELLAR CAST. I didn't realize LYN is in it .. This is pre-AJTL so I was not 'looking out for him' nor had I watched more than 2 eps I think
OMY Allen Feng is in it too - LOVED his role in AJTL

Just that the character casting made him look so PITIABLE and BUG like .. Would one want to waste one's time on a BUG like this? Get hands all yucky slimey? Spend SO much of screen time to 'avenge' a roach like thingy when there are BIGGER culprits to bring too justice and hang gutted on the city walls.
This character is going to be unforgettable in the casting of this actor - his 'get-up' kudos to the costume / hair / makeup creativity - the use of his dialogues and actions to pump up the 'tension' in the Drama
Did anyone else think Song Yan was treated too ruthlessly? How can a mini micro ant inspire such an over the top reaction; a canon being fired at him by a man at the peak of achievement- kind of petty, not expected …. But maybe it’s to show some parallel between QiMin ruthless and Marquis?
Here I have to fess up ….. Anyone else totally unable to look away from Qimin? Is he like totally riveting - what were the casting crew and scriptwriters thinking when they created this pitiable gobble-chomp gorgeous silver haired monster whose swoon worthy and I can’t get enough of him on screen. Is he going to be killed by his amour and obsessive love object?
It was worth it.
I'll take a month again when I plan to rewatch and pack in a few more Youku Dramas I have collected for a watch

I just wish they had cast a truly 'slimey' looking (less dumb) character ... this one looked SO pitiable and idiotic .. like he had marbles missing

By Ep 37 almost the entire ensemble cast is waiting to nuke him ..
He's carried off that mangled, crippled, misshapen psyche role to perfection

He's a superb actor .. I LOVE that the drama juxtaposed this contrast between his looks and actions ..
Just like how there is a vengeful ruthless side to our beautiful Marquis which makes the drama spicey
