Beautifully expressed - not reading the whole thing yet since I’m only on 9 and just in case I read a spoilery…
New respect for PBG
Top dog in Kdrama actor stable
He’s pulling this off with such panache
As is the stellar ensemble cast!!
Love how the goofy is blending with the fantastical with the poignant and heartbreaking - and what a villain character - top notch portrayal and character depiction .. blood runs cold and yet fools you into pity mode … yikes
The most hilarious fight sequences - especially the one in which the rival police teams from Insung try to take credit for catching “Monkey” ~ was laughing so much.
The amazing comedic timing of the actors is brilliant. First time seeing PBG excel in a comic role .. he didn’t hold back at all to being goofy (and yet your heart breaks for him when he is down)
SO nice to see someone watching this finally ... I thought no one would come to this drama page since it's an…
It feels soooooooooo goood. To hear that from you.
I mean I wish I could personally direct like-minded people to this drama : those who can really delve into it and realize just how royally (🤪) rich this drama is in terms of every department of production and acting.
It’s sitting on the peak of my HUGE pile of CDramas watched over the last 3 years
I hope you don’t miss the Special also : it’s the final banger and SO SO much more complex layers will finally fall into place
Man.. I really like this drama.. and I feel like it had so much potential to be great but it just let me down…
Update : getting better and better. Very unique drama. Love the versatility PBG displays here.
Am amazed how low key but effective the very famous FL actress has been here. Hats off. There isn’t a vying for attention involved - the cast is superbly coordinated in a fast paced drama
to those who enjoy it -- what parts did you enjoy? and would you recommend? i can handle unserious dramas with…
Hey I just started - loving it as I laugh and grin my way through it … love how fast paced smartly edited it is!!! Crazy mad humour - tongue in cheek humour the teases the viewer IMO
We dropped after 1.5 episode. I'm fine with all the leads and i like the Republican era and prolly the story line…
And there isn’t anything truly gripping happening only terrific chase & fight sequences … Terrible subbing doesn’t help either. Waste of a bunch of good actors and large production budget
But losing points for the 'filtered' and ironed spotless look .. Wish it was made more 'slice of life' with their real skin tones and textures; less PLASTIC-Y
The director lost out on creating a truly edgy intro .. very 'meh' handling of the scenes .. should have put us on the edge of the seat .. but I was slouching wishing the story would move faster .. since the exposition was so 'seen that' done to death style .. (NO STYLE)
But curious to see how it plays out.
TOP TALENT in the drama ,, Am praying that they werent made to waste their time in the hands of a 'so-so' Production team with a 'meh' director.
Putting on Hold until all eps have dropped.
ASIDE : Wallace Chung was SO natural and REAL in "Second Chance" ~ BRILLIANT SCRIPT and DRAMA and our FL Zhu Zhu slayed it in "The Tale of Rose" as a support character and as Main Lead in "Why is He Still Single" opposite and equally talented Wallace Huo.
JUST for the Cinematography .. the lighting, the angles, and mood creation of the frames and scenes .. By Ep 2 I give it a 9/10 .. Holding 1 back to see how it develops.
No cheesy sentimentalism .. cringey 'goody acts' till now .. It's as real as it can get.
LOVING IT.
Praying it does not slip and become slushy and soiled.
The beginning scene sets it all up .. Johnny Huang does not disappoint
Thanks
