On C drama, first I see who the actor/actress, if from previous drama I know their acting are really bad, I'm not watching anymore any of their future drama.
I might try some highly anticipated drama like Fox matchmaker, despite not convinced with both leads acting chop. But let's say I won't venture to drama like recently BFTB or Beauty of Resilience, that kind of drama, esp after TTEOTM.

I don't think it is bcs of Tencent and Leo on TTEOTM, but just they don't want TTEOTM to shine. TTEOTM was their project bfr, but some disagreement on things and then Youku willing to pay higher.

Because of TTEOTM success in many ways it has starting to pressure competitors to up their game for the benefit us of audience.

1. Today Tencent conference posted many new drama posters and they are MUCH better and textured than the usual UGLY- BORING- NO BRAINER- LAZY Tencent posters.

2. I also find it funny, since TTEOTM rsvp was more than 5M. Now many dramas RSVP must reach 5M and more, meaning Fans has to work hard to RSVP or the team has to buy RSVP numbers. Otherwise, it can not be considered highly anticipated drama. Before 2M was a good number.

3. I saw many Leaks for other costume dramas, ever since TTEOTM filming, costume pictures starts leaking, I saw many copies already, by now looks like S-S+ drama costumes are better than before TTOETM.

Now I hope: these platform starts giving us more interesting stories, Actor up their game: please learn dubbing properly and learn to do better acting. Producer pls give us better CGI, better fight scenes, better sets, better arts.

Bfr Qiyi is much smaller than Tencent. However, Qiyi keeps producing better dramas in the last 2-3 years than Tencent, now there are comparable in term of members.
But as company Tencent is actually much bigger than Qiyi. I read too: Tencent is a 2nd rich generations, where as Qiyi CEO and founder is rag to riches story with much more fighting spirits.

TTEOTM has 70M views/eps on Youku solo broadcast, which is Youku best solo broadcast in history.
If TTEOTM is on Tencent/Qiyi it would be at least 100 M views/eps, that's is not called nuclear bomb explosive in China.

It was Runyu that drew me to C drama and how I love Runyu, even now, I can't say I love TTJ more than Runyu, they are equal in my heart.
I love Runyu because LYX out of the box acting is so good and so graceful. I have not seen any actor portray immortal/god/fairy as good as LYX - Runyu.

I think we won't see a character like TTJ in 10 years. TTJ is LYX once in a lifetime luck, he or other actors won't get another role as complex as TTJ again (6 characters-8 personalities).
But it is also TTJ luck to meet LYX who gave him justice.

I'll say, as unlucky as Leo is in C Ent world, he actually is very lucky in term of getting Classic characters to play:
Runyu is said to be the best character ever written in C drama land (till TTJ arrives)
TTJ is so complex, it is a dream character for every single good actor
CWN is a classic even without airing, a character that is so well loved and protected by novel fans.

I agree abt his limitation, so I hope for a sick evil villain role for him, both modern or costume, he will nail it.
