Yes, this is a rather dark novel. For me as Yunxi fan, I want to see his full range of acting from Crazy to redemption, I prefer to see TTJ as in the novel but I know it won't happen in C drama cause of censorship. Cause after seeing so many drama, having a grey MLs is very rare.

In the novel, TTJ becomes crazier and got white hair after LSS death. He resigned as Emperor and looked for her soul and cultivated immortality. Also he still a young demon king, so it was easy for him as mortal to be immortal than anyone else.

One way to know whether or not many scenes got deleted is to see how many episodes it was initially planed before they finish filming and then how many after they got license. Hyx stays the same 50 before and after. That's why I think not too many get deleted.

Example: Broker was shorter after censorship than initaly planned.
