It would have happened in a more open society (dumping the parents), but in China, this is considered as 'bu xiao" (not being filial pious). And this is something everyone takes seriously. Children have no choice who they want to be their parents, whereas parents can choose which child to dump. Maybe this drama is telling us that children do have a choice; they can dump the bad parents like Chen Ting and choose the good ones like Li Ba.

Yes, that's the closure for JJ's and XCZ's relationship. Now they can move on with their lives. MY's mother has sacrificed a lot as in many Asian families. Such mothers normally get the support of their daughters (not so sure for sons) when it comes to divorces. However, I don't think they would go through with it. MY would be the conduit to make them both back up and make changes to their own behavior/standing. Parents of this generation normally don't simply divorce just because they can't stand each other (not a good enough reason).
