I know. For me, it's been more than 1 year since it aired, and I still can't forget how I had felt while watching and after watching this drama. It's a wonderful drama that can capture our emotions like this. BTW, love your blog/review. Keep up the good work!

It's a wonderful drama - good acting, good story, good production, good OSTs. But it can haunt you for awhile after you finish watching. It did for me. The only way to move on is to find another good drama like The Untamed (which saved me) but I see you've already watched it. Also try to watch the uncut version. It explains better for the whole thing that shapes the characters. Enjoy!

That's the feelings I get too - flirting around. I've always felt they're like love-at-first-sight though both don't know it at the time. They definitely have feelings for each other when they first meet at the entrance, or else LZ wouldn't have waited for WY to return at that hour (LZ should have been in bed by then normally). WY likes to use his womanizing face to show he's a straight. LZ uses his strict teaching to show it's impossible for him (to fall for another man). Despite some viewers say LZ doesn't like WY initially, I feel LZ likes WY a lot but uses anger to cover himself, even the older Lan brother says so cryptically (that LZ likes WY). Yeah, it's love-at-first-sight. :D

You're right! I'm rather enjoying this one. With the shelter-in-place order, I've been indulging in watching dramas all day and tuning out from all the upsetting news, especially from you-know-who :D

I'm more or less used to how they look with their hair pinned back like that. But I can't get over how Ren Jialun looks with his small face and super large wig, making his head look very weird. He looks a lot better in this series though. :D

How's this series? Worth watching?

Yeah, the chasing game, jokes etc - all pretty Jackie Chan. I'm not a big fan of Jackie either - only occasional watching with the family. For me, family time is more important, not the shows :)

The author Mò xiāng tóngchòu is such an amazing writer. Her stories can be so funny and humorous and yet she can bring out our tears easily. Kudos to that!

"My only complaint is the hairstyles." Hahaha! The hair styles in this drama are considered pretty good. Wait till you see Allen Ren in his older dramas. I dropped them precisely because of this reason. XD.

Ding Qiao as Bai Liu Li in Wu Xin 3 is amazing! Falling in love with him.

"I'm going to stay away from her for her own good" - yes, like you, I hate this trope. Imagine when he dies, the other would be so hurt because she doesn't get to spend the precious last moments with him. This would haunt her for life. I believe this damage is even greater.

Like you said, "And the last few episodes -- wow what an absolute massacre." - many Chinese dramas tend to end like this. It feels as if the directors and their crew are so tired and can't wait to pack up everything and send everyone home ASAP.

Chinese dramas have improved a lot, but still have a long way to go.

Yeah, that's what I suspect too - no BG romance. Nonetheless, it's very entertaining, very Jackie Chan (if you know what I mean) especially in the chasing game, fighting choreography etc.

Move on, move on. So many good dramas are airing. Check out The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty. So far, it's pretty good. One caveat, so far, 4 episodes in, no boy/girl romance yet. But the investigation/crimes etc are very good.
