Depends on how you look at it. For me, despite its flaws, this drama makes me laugh and cry so much, more than any dramas have done. So I purposely "overrate" it. Of course one shouldn't totally trust the rating because there are no real criteria how one should rate a drama; it's all based on personal liking and emotion. To that end, it seems there are more people who like this drama than those who don't :)

This story is not a romantic story but yet very romantic. Super super romantic :)

Yes, you said it so right - every sentence, every word they say is so important and viewers have to listen carefully or else we may miss why things happen as they do. This is not a drama of action, so what is happening cannot be conveyed through actions but through words and facial expressions.

The acting is fabulous, the setting is real, everything is serious and solemn. Just my cup of tea.

OMG! I love this drama! It's more of a fictional story based on real historical figures. I don't find it boring or slow at all. It's wonderful for me.

Prequel, sequel, whatever, it doesn't really matter. The story stands alone. So watch it. It's very well made. :)

I actually like the Bai Youning character. She adds colors to the two 'boys'. Xiao Yan is such a talented actress.

Yes, I had an issue with Ye Hua too when he failed Su Su and what he did to her. His only redemption was, he had remorse, and tried hard to make it up. That works for me. :)

Do continue, but best if you can watch with a buddy for mental support. :)

They measured his face, actually it's not long, just normal, but the face is thin, so gives the illusion of being long. He's actually a very good looking man. Maybe historical hairstyle (with all the hair pinned back) doesn't suit him so well. The story itself is pretty interesting with various different male leads.
