So i am on ep 4 and I don't enjoy it. Things progress too fast, IU screams a lot and is being selfish and mean…
This isn’t a good show for binge-watching, it’s more of a watch-a-little, reflect, enjoy, and maybe cry type of drama. The characters are also very young in the first few episodes, and they don’t quite know how to express their emotions yet - hence the yelling or silence. But that changes as they grow and the show progresses.
hence the message this drama try to convey; “do not be so hard on your father, he never truly lived for himself..”…
That's true. I just think the level of sacrifise and service selfless love that he had is impossible to match. No matter what his kids of Ae Sun would do, it woudn't be enough. That's why I think we saw scenes where kids, at least Geum Myeong, were frustrated with him.
I'm the first person who says, ratings don't matter especially on MDL, because most people can't give lower score…
I'm genuinely curious which dramas got a 9.5 or 9 rating from you over the past 20 years.
But I totally support that. I usually think twice before rating a drama a 10 and keep that score reserved for something I truly love. With this drama, I had no reservations about the score. So if anything, I'm surprised it's not rated higher, especially given how skewed MDL ratings are.
I think you’ll like this drama given the list! It has a good, long buildup, and the character motivations are developed well. C-dramas tend to be lighter than K-dramas like 2521 and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, and this one is lighter as well. It’s a warm and smooth slow burn.
When I Fly Towards You is another C-drama to consider. It’s a coming-of-age drama, very sweet and cute.
Why did the Sang family have such a different attitude towards their kids' love interests? They totally accepted Yi Fan without a word but gave Jia Xu a hard time. Both of them have family issues and did their best to thrive despite them.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I feel sad for Gwan Sik's constant sacrifice. He didn't take care of himself, giving everyone unconditional love and taking care of the family. As a result, his health was poor, and he was bound to leave Ae Sun sooner rather than later. I kind of wish his character had been a bit more selfish, or that he had been taken care of a bit more than he was.
I honestly don't understand all the hate the drama is receiving. I get that it's different from a typical K-drama and has a lot of plot holes, but it's not much worse than many other dramas that get a much better audience response. Maybe the drama is just struggling to find its target demographic...
I think the point is that they didn't need to look for the biological parents anymore. He doesn't need to know…
Oh, yes, definitely! I don’t have any other explanation except that he was a very flawed man who didn’t understand his emotions or how to communicate them. The fact that his second marriage failed, with the family moving to Canada (basically running away), is also a confirmation of this.
this obsession with flags (in romances) among drama audience is one of the worst I've seen in some time. how about…
I think the point is that they didn't need to look for the biological parents anymore. He doesn't need to know who his biological dad is because all he wanted is to be accepted by his "adopted" dad. Her mom didn't seems interested at all in getting to know her daughter, so as she left her place she closed that page.

But yeah... it's sad how some really good dramas get low rating on MDL for no reason.
