I have to say, Ji Bozai, has really one of the most tragic backstories of all. He deserved an apology from several…
Yes, he grew up with a very strong moral compass despite the horrible environment. It’s hinted that Bo Yulan had a huge influence on him after she saved him. But their relationships were kept vague, and the deeper connection between them wasn’t explored much.
From what I understand, he was poisoned with Heavenly Grief and this is how he gained spiritual veins. But this…
My understanding is the same. What I didn’t get was why not many people used Heavenly Grief to gain veins and compete in the tournament. Of course, I understand that there is no cure, but given how some were willing to do anything just to gain power, it seems strange that only JBS has spiritual veins from Heavenly Grief.
It’s funny everyone annoyed that she was lying to him, but when he was lying to her later on about his relapse…
I love how well you put it, thank you for your comment.
I think she behaves so at ease in the first episodes that we almost forget about the environment that shaped her into who she is. She indeed had to be very strong, keep to herself and also didn’t trust anyone. And the scene with her father indeed was a good indicator of that.
"says to him at one point that Ming Xian isn’t the type of person to let anyone see that they were weak" - yes I remember that. At some moment, I though she felt as if she would rather die than seem weak.

It sounds layered and itneresting. Now I am very curious how they used memory loss part in plot. Thank you again for recommending it! I will give it a try.
maybe this drama won't be the right fit for you - FL and ML are grey characters, they aren't your typical perfect…
It gets better and she gets honest, but much later in the drama.
Oh boy, you hated her not telling him the truth. It was too long for my liking as well, but I think that her secrets are larger than his. She has things to loose, including her life. Wrong turn and she is dead. He is in a revenge mode with secres mostly related to schemas and his master.

I think this part "for which you apparently have no use" is not how she perceived it. He promised master that he will not give it to anyone, so she was "respectful" of that. On top of it, there was also her pride and worry of how he will perceive her.

+100 to "This is one of the dramas where writers didn’t take a vacation after first 10-15 episodes and actually continued to improve"! Good writing is harder to find these days.
how was she able to use multiple poweful "spells" or whatever you call them in ep 11 and only loose one…
My takeaway was that leaf loss was not linear. It takes more power to lose leaves at the beginning, and then it becomes easier to lose them toward the end and harder to recover.
The miscommunication and misunderstandings were not it, and it became a reason why I skipped a lot of scenes,…
The rating might fluctuate in the next weeks or months, like it did with Hidden Love and Lovely Runner. The ranking could also be a reflection of comparisons with recent shows as well. For example, among the different wuxia I saw in 2025, I liked this one the most. But it’s okay if you didn’t like it as much.
Why is it that in Every drama basic miscommunication leads to heartbreak! hardly Ever do we have sincere honest…
I think the issues in this drama are much deeper than miscommunication. They didn’t trust each other, so they had to keep their secrets close. Later, they fell in love but were still learning how to trust each other (and whether they could) and pride got into the game as well. I think what we saw was more about learning to communicate through heartbreak, so that miscommunication doesn’t become an issue in the future.
It was a great show!! Great pacing, low story, relationship and character development, blend of humor and sadness and romance (!). I loved it — probably one of the best wuxia dramas I’ve seen.
oh interesting! I actually thought her character is quite different here from Love Next Door. If anything, maybe…
No, I don't think it will get better as well. I will still watch it, because it's an easy watch and positive vibe if I'd like to rest. I do like their respectful no-drama relationship though. About character development, I loved recent You and Everything Else - it hits on another level

FWIW, I’m not defending her, just trying to understand the character in case there was more depth to it rather than just making things angsty for us
