SZE's rumoured to film Tencent's BiaoMeiWanFu with Chen Xinhai in July, the director & scriptwriter are soso and…
Well LYN fans (he has a lot more fans because he's a singer, a big liuliang who does weekly lives, does varieties, is much older, and SZE's been away for 2 years and not on social media) are basically using social media figures to attack Zuer on different platforms like Douban, Weibo, Douyin that he was the reason the drama succeeded because he attracted more people to watch the drama, that his acting was better, that he has more audience rapport so he attracted more new followers than her and deserves more credit than Zuer the 1st billed FL.
This behaviour is common whenever non-liuliang actors co-star with liuliang traffic celebs like LYN/YSX/ZLS/Dylan Wang/ChengYi/Yangzi, as long as a liuliang traffic celeb is involved the famdom will start planning online during the drama period or after the show ends on how to "kick the costar off the table" aka grab the credit for the results, or wreck the CP so most of the drama fans become fans of their liuliang idol. All liuliang celeb fandoms are incredibly coordinated, hence why for many actors it's actually a huge relief to not act with liuliangs especially male liuliang actors even if the viewership suffers a bit because their fans have a habit of starting coordinated attacks online against their costars and wanting to claim all the credit for a drama's success https://img9.doubanio.com/view/richtext/s/public/p891812514.gif (this is an old gif but it explains the behaviour of male liuliang fans whenever a popular drama ends and the fandom starts attacking the actress and claiming the actor is the reason for the success lol)
For instance there are screenshots of LYN fans (Xiao Peng Fei? He calls his fans his concubines? Lol) discussing during TPOB's airing how angry they are that he's being called ugly in contrast to Zuer on Bilibili, YouTube vlogs when he has more fans than her (of course, he's a famous singer and she's been on hiatus) and how it's best not to attack the FL until the drama ends. All of this is a huge turnoff if you are a drama fan or a Zuer fan (she doesn't do much online unlike LYN who is perpetually online 247 doing live streams or singing), Zuer herself doesn't have a big active fandom and can't defend herself.
It's confusing what LYN fans want to claim or what their objective is, he is actually a 1987er and he won't be able to do idol dramas for much longer, even if his fans claim TPOB's success was due to him & his fandom, he's not going to get 1st billed ML roles in idol dramas simply due to his age and lack of formal acting qualifications, actors his age are either taking support roles eg. Ji Xiaobing or switching to serious dramas e.g. Johnny Huang, Zhu Yilong, Bai Yu because nobody wants to see a 40yo ML kissing a 20+yo FL in an idol dramas (actually I'm not sure, idol drama fangirls seem to think this is hot when irl a middle aged man dating a 20+yo is a red flag). It's more likely that he'll be focusing on varieties, livestreams, singing than acting in the future, unless he wants to film middle aged romance dramas with older actresses.
Zuer is still the 1st-billed and the main credit for the result goes to her, plus it's true that TPOB was hugely anticipated because of her Reuters shots, that's how most people came to know of the drama. She's in acting for long term given that she was a child actor, graduated from BFA as one of the top students and is one of the few actresses in her age group whose acting is praised. She's also very lowkey in recent years (mostly because she wants to avoid trouble and being attacked online) so it's unlikely she wants to gain liuliang to fight with other fandoms. Before her scandal she was already rumored to prefer 正剧 aka serious dramas instead of idol dramas but her agency preferred her to choose the more commerical path to make money, and ultimately she's just trying to restart her acting career so it's kinda sad and gross that his fandom is attacking her acting, her unpopularity compared to him, when she's not even a rival to his career and helped him get more new female fans due to the drama being some tradwife schtick. I already feel bad for Li Yitong because she's the 1st billed FL of his next drama and she's not a liuliang too, if it does well I bet his fans are going to start attacking her and saying the ML's fans did all the work 😂 funny how these male liuliangs aren't given 1st billing by the producers 😂
SZE's rumoured to film Tencent's BiaoMeiWanFu with Chen Xinhai in July, the director & scriptwriter are soso and…
Honestly? As much I want TPOB to do well, I really hope Zuer stops choosing scripts where she basically plays an obedient wife or smitten woman to older actors born in the 1980s. She has teamed up with Xu Haiqiao, Xu Zhengxi, Allen Ren, Ethan Juan, LYN a 1987er and frankly, all of these shows haven't done much to help her own popularity even if it boosts the fame of these uncle MLs because she looks underaged and has romantic arcs that Chinese fans can't get into due to the huge age gap and ick factor. It's pretty offputting that she keeps accepting such kinds of roles and the reason why she isn't a liuliang. There are 10283738 edits of her paired up with age appropriate MLs on Bilibili like Liu Haoran, Leo Wu, Xu Kai, Wang Xingyue, Ryan Ding, Dylan Wang, Zhang Linghe etc and her team doesn't seem to realise that they need to pick a ML carefully; the reason Bai Lu, Zhao Lusi, Esther Yu are popular is because their dramas with popular age-appropriate actors like YangYang (WRTW), Dylan Wang (LBFAD), Ryan Ding, Leo Wu (LLTG) got popular. Chinese fans are very selective and will never get behind actresses/dramas that act with "unattractive men" (this is subjective lol) or literal uncles as MLs and have the FL as a tradwife, this is the reason why in China TPOB started to do badly midway and got a 6.4 on Douban. Actresses can only gain liuliang if they take roles that appeal to women, for TPOB although Song Zuer is 1st billed it was LYN who gained most new fans because the whole show was essentially about the ML character being forgiving and the FL falling for him (this arc lost a lot of viewership).
This is nothing to do with LYN personally and his age and visuals are not his fault, he did better than expected acting wise and benefited a lot from having a young pretty FL that attracted viewers to watch the drama in first place and gained a lot of new fans (300k?). Ultimately in terms of acting career progression TPOB didn't help Zuer as much as it could've, for LYN he's at the upper age limit for male idol drama actors (usually in Cdramaland actors will transit to serious/realist roles in their mid to late 30s, or play "older generation" roles like dads, uncles in idol dramas if they cannot make the transition into serious non-idol dramas e.g. career, suspense, family, serious historical without all those idol drama filters) so it remains to be seen if he'll take on more acting gigs because he's been focused on singing since his last drama wrapped 1(?) year ago.
Imagine if Song Zu Er’s tax issue was never resolved, this drama would either be shelved forever or they would…
For what's worth Cnetz already did faceswaps of the trailer and Reuters in 2023 because TPOB was hotly anticipated, the funniest one I've seen is Luhan as Xiao Qiao https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Xz4y1K7RQ/ https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV18N411v7xK/ this one has various famous actresses lol it looks a bit weird because it's still Song Zuer's face shape, the only great fit is Ning Jing.
Yesss...i would love to see her in xianxa...crying blood spitting 😭
Blood spitting noooooo 😂💀She could do a role similar to LBFAD or Journey of Flower's FL quite well but good xianxia scripts are hard to come by. Both are watchable because they don't involve copious blood spitting
https://youtube.com/shorts/5oOQ7WU_wMs "Do I smell of alcohol?" 👄👄👄👄 "....Do I still smell of alcohol?" "Rascal...." "Why don't we make a deal?" "As long as I can I'll do my best..."
OMG they're trying to get into the M18 spirit of the TPOB novel 😱🤣😂
Just curious after reading a comment here why these big production houses would not want to work with her even…
SZE's rumoured to film Tencent's BiaoMeiWanFu with Chen Xinhai in July, the director & scriptwriter are soso and the purpose of the drama is to help the ML gain fans and popularity but apparently this was signed before TDHR aired so she was probably grateful to get the trust of Tencent (there are rumors she's signed part of her filming rights over to Tencent who are currently China's biggest drama platform over IQiyi, Youku, MangoTV) and has to do the drama to 渡劫 even if her fans aren't exactly optimistic about the ML, director, scriptwriter.
She's currently guesting in a film (The Great Skull) and rumored to be guest starring in the currently filming Liao Zhai as well as 奇迹 a CCTV anthology https://wiki.d-addicts.com/The_Miracles that's just started filming, if the CCTV casting is true then her status is still pretty good given the cast is led by Lei Jiayin, Hu Ge, Song Jia, and other award-winning serious actors not idol actors.
Daylight also recently wished her Happy Birthday (she got her breakout adult role of Qiao Simei in Daylight's The Bond when she was still in college, similar to Yangzi getting her breakout role in Daylight's Battle of Changsha) and also casted her in Created in China which will air in June 2025 on CCTV 1, both her Daylight roles are 2nd billing which are beyond what most actresses her age can get other than Angel Zhao or Yangzi (both are also ex child actors). Daylight is one of the most respected production firms in the industry as their dramas are continuously nominated for awards, if they'll work with Zuer there's no reason other firms won't.
She does, Cdramaland is undergoing an Ice Age currently due to the economic downturn and rise of vertical minidramas,…
Yes she likely lost all her endorsements and sponsorships but more importantly she can act again https://m.weibo.cn/status/5171229963064011 i saw this Weibo post today (this user previously posted a photo of Zuer at Le Cordon Bleu Shanghai, she signed up for a diploma course during the investigation) and apparently the person reporting her is so persistent s/he sued the Beijing Tax Bureau for clearing her.
Most folks including industry producers think she's a strong actress and one of the naturally prettier ones of her age so she doesnt lack scripts, e.g. among top child actors her age like Yangzi, Landy Li, GXT, Angel Zhao, Zhang Xueying, she fits costumes roles best and can play an ancient beauty without Cnetz mocking her unlike other actresses? Cnetz even did a faceswap of her viral Reuters in TPOB in case she got banned forever https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV18N411v7xK/ and the conclusion was that she fit best, so TPOB helped everyone recognise her visuals and maturity. Before she was a bit underrated because she didn't do costume roles when she was studying at BFA.
The overall consensus is "Those who are prettier can't act as well, those who are better at acting aren't as beautiful". However she's not a liuliang like Esther Yu, Rosy Zhao as she's not too active on Weibo, Douyin, XHS (child stars who grow up into adult actors tend to avoid too much social media in order to market themselves as serious actors, Yangzi became a liuliang due to xianxia dramas not social media) and doesn't interact with fans much. IMO it's a pity that her dramas were both airdropped and delayed for years so they couldn't market it as planned, she would've gained more liuliang if they promoted normally.
She's always done both realistic dramas and idol dramas like Yangzi, IMO she should keep challenging herself by taking harder roles in realist dramas since she isn't exactly a liuliang. Her visuals plus natural talent for acting since childhood is a rare commodity and the industry probably can recognise it, she will get opportunities considering that she's a good crier and emotes better than Esther/TXW/Churan/Zhouye/a lot of the 90-95ers, plus she's babyfaced enough to take costume roles from the 00ers who are either not as good at acting or unsuitable for costume roles (WenQi, Zhang Zifeng, Angel Zhao, Li Gengxi, the top 00ers are mostly suited for modern roles). So I do think she's very competitive despite her break.
Song Zu Er - whoever is on her makeup team - she needs to keep them for future shows. This is the best makeup…
Ivan 艾闻 did makeup for TPOB, he's very prolific in Cdramas but usually a hit or miss. IMO SZE's nose isn't the issue (at least it's natural and she's had the same face as a child actor!), even when barefaced it gives her face character during dramatic scenes see this https://imgur.com/a/6keudA8 it's more that a high nose bridge contrasts with her childlike face. her face reminds me of doll-like models popular in the 2000s e.g. Gemma Ward, Heather Marks
See this edit! There are tons of Lareina x Leo rps edits on Bilibili because they are BFA classmates, but I don't think they'll be costarring soon lol they are just good friends.
I have not started watching it yet (but I want to!!! badly!!!) because I'm anxious it wont have a HE. LYN has…
It's a HE, LYN talked in a recent interview about how rare it is for his character to not die and how the baby actor kept crying when he held her lol, he said Zuer had more experience with kid actors.
I’m praying for her to get really good roles and spoil us with idol period dramas. LOL. I’ve read somewhere…
She does, Cdramaland is undergoing an Ice Age currently due to the economic downturn and rise of vertical minidramas, many actors have been jobless in the meantime with no dramas to film. It's really not easy to get good roles currently and the industry is so competitive, she has to make the most out of her acting skills and visuals while she's still young so I think she'll rather earn less than not film.
FWIW Liu Yuning is an 87er (iirc there are school documents verifying his real age) and he's been divorced before…
Googled it and this is LYN saying it himself in one of his early lives https://tieba.baidu.com/p/5990742917 He asks if anyone is born on the same day as him, January 8 (solar calender) + 腊月初九 (9th day of the 12th month on the lunar calender), and fans checked which January 8 fell on the 9th day of the 12th lunar month.... It's 1987.
Pretty irrefutable but imo his age doesn't really matter?
FWIW Liu Yuning is an 87er (iirc there are school documents verifying his real age) and he's been divorced before…
I'm not a hater? Something of his fan actually, I don't really see why age is such a big deal although I understand why he may have changed it because he entered the entertainment industry quite late. He's worked his ass off though (iirc he used to be a chef before starting a street band), and he deserves all his success.
