Shen Yue is my og girlie so while I'm happy that she was cast in this, I am a little bit apprehensive just because remakes are tricky and also KHY is so charismatic it might be hard to fill those shoes.

I'm sorry but it is an attention span issue. Dramas are being dumbed down for the sake of people not being able to sit down and watch anything longer. Why does it matter if it's a book or a tv show? Storytelling is storytelling. And stories are suffering because of how dumbed down everything has gotten. Watering a complex story down so that it can fit into 40 episodes is a bad thing. It's why so many kdramas suck because they're forced to fit into the 16 episode model. We're seeing that same exact issue now with cdramas. I'm not far in this specific drama so I couldn't tell you if it needs more or less episodes. But this is an issue that isn't specific to this one drama, it's a broader problem.

Hard disagree. No offense but I think you guys just don't have attention spans anymore lmao. Dramas used to all be 50+ episodes. Current historical dramas are all rushed because of the 40 ep cap. If dramas like Yanxi Palace, Ruyi's Royal Love, or the Story of Minglan had been cut down, all of the quality and nuance would have been lost.

I don't love an age gap but she's nearing her mid 20s so I don't really care at all honestly. We should all be way more pissed off at the dramas coming up with Ai Mi paired with Hou Minghao and the one with Huangyang Tiantian paired with Li Yunrui. Those are literal children being paired with grown nearly 30 year old men 🤢.

I just started this and while I am enjoying it I'm a bit disappointed in the tone. I thought this drama was going to be much darker and more serious. It's pretty lighthearted most of the time. It's not a bad drama at all, like I said I like it so far and I'm 19 episodes in. But from the trailer and the source material, I was expecting something very different.

Avenuex is so so hit or miss. She randomly likes the worst shit but is overly critical of decent dramas. Every once in a blue moon she's spot on, but I really have to take her opinions with a grain of salt.

The only people rating it are actually people who know chinese, there aren't eng subs. I wouldn't say the score is indicative of mdl taste at all with so few reviews.

Lakorn fans are really in the trenches. Kao is one of the most popular thai actresses for international fans and yet even her big dramas aren't subbed😩. This is like how it was for cdramas back in the 2010s.

It's alright. Kind of boring but not terrible. I am disappointed by just how shallow everything was - the acting, the characters, the plot. None of it had any depth. It's fine if you want something simple, but I felt like I was watching a show made for little kids.

You're right lol she's an objectively bad actor. Everyone always pulls out the "she dubs herself!!" as an excuse but she really needs to tone down her mannerisms and work on subtlety with her facial expressions. But she wasn't so bad that she ruined the drama for me either

For the love of god pls change her picture. Douyin makeup is so tacky, it makes these gorgeous women look drugged out. Zhao Lusi, Yu Shuxin, and Ju Jingyi do this kind of makeup all the time too and it always looks awful.

They should remake this with Yoojung and Jingoo now. They're both better actors than the original leads anyway. Hell, they were better actors in 2012 when they were still kids.
