The overall vibe and chemistry between the leads was good but everything else was very mid. The sentiment of being a foreigner and only having your SO to rely on leading to a lot of loneliness is a good premise but there was too much other cliche nonsense thrown in there. Even with only being 6 episodes I felt it dragged a bit. Would have been better with half the episodes or even just a movie.

Saying she had SO many supporting roles when there are literally only 3 listed here is crazy. And while her parents aren't in showbiz, she still is a nepobaby with a billionaire father who got her foot in the door. I'm not a fan of hers but I also don't blindly hate her. I think your defense is rather dense though and willfully obtuse.

After watching When I Fly Towards You I did not understand the ML hype at all. But now after watching this I am 100% on board for Zhou Yiran. His acting was just so subtle and realistic and I loved watching him in this role. It was my first time watching Wang Yinglu and I think her character was the most difficult to portray here and she did it perfectly. Their chemistry together was so sweet and lovely. These are definitely some frontrunners for the 00s actors.

I haven't started the show yet but reading this made me even more excited for it. I love Wan Peng so much. Ever since When We Were Young I've been a big fan. Her and Zhang Yaqin are two of my favorite out of the 95 flowers and they're both so underrated.

I do think the production mistakes are worthy of criticism. Quality in cdramas has taken a nosedive in the 2020s. But that lies on the production staff's shoulders and the workload that demands they cut corners. Idk why everyone is jumping down Cheng Yi's throat though, it's not his fault.

Neither of them ever publicly acknowledged the relationship. While they didn't hide it, they never spoke about it. They obviously had some kind of agreement, I don't see why you hate him so much for a mutual choice. I bet you're kicking your feet now though with the news that they broke up.

Okay I know this is a years old comment but they actually did harm animals in filming. It's very common in cdramas. Look into it, it's really disturbing.

I haven't seen this drama yet but I so relate to missing the long dramas. I just finished Empresses in the Palace and wow it was amazing. Dramas just aren't at that level of storytelling anymore with the 40 episode cap. And forcing them to split it into multiple seasons kills the momentum.

Especially if you watch the bts of any show, all actors literally have moments where they go over scenes with the scripts in their hands. This is 100% the fault of production not Cheng Yi.

I think having filler episodes in some dramas is worth it in the end. Now we have all of these shallow fast food dramas that don't allow time for real development of character, plot, or setting. The really good dramas now have to be broken into 2 or more parts killing their momentum. Gone are the days of Empresses in the Palace, Nirvana in Fire, Story of Minglan quality. There are obviously a handful of still great dramas that have come out that are under the 40 ep cap, but they're the exception not the rule.
