I really enjoyed the first four episodes, but episode 5-6 were a chore to sit through. So much moving in circles and little progress. The introduction of Jae-yeol's ex was just annoying (and she can't act), the overly delayed introduction of Hong Min-ki just seems stupid when he was so present in promo. There's not much of an engaging plot outside of all the misunderstandings either. Putting it on hold for now.
Wow its been ages since Nam joo hyuk did a drama!!
Yup, he did his military service. Then chose a Netflix drama for his comeback which unfortunately take forever to be released, so we have to wait until next year ðŸ˜
He looked so good at the Weak Hero event today! Can't wait to see him in Delusion and NFTLR next year. There is just something about his aura that sets him apart from his peers. Such a bright future.
This really was like watching paint dry more often than not. Some of the decisions by the writer were entirely baffling. And unfortunately the leads had zero romantic chemistry. If not for the brothers' relationship, this drama would have been a complete waste of time for me.
Seeing how charismatic Lee Jun-young was in Weak Hero 2, I almost couldn't believe it was the same actor in this drama. But I think that was most of the characters in this drama. Flat and dull. Since these are clearly capable actors I can only blame the writing and direction. Even though you are making a drama about grief and loss, you should be able to make your characters engaging.
Now that some brands have started filing lawsuits, the floodgates should open. Needless to say, this makes it even less likely that Disney+ will touch Knock Off with a ten-feet pole.
In the end I think I enjoyed this more than S1, despite missing Choi Hyunwook. One major reason was that I actually enjoyed the antagonists. I adored Bae Nara in this, and I really liked Lee Junyoung and Yoo Soobin too. Whereas in S1 I spent the final episodes in murderous rage because of Beomseok, whose face was so punchable, and whose betrayal was so awful, it basically made me want to set myself on fire.
I also loved Sieun's friend group. Gotak and Juntae, my babies! Overall the character work felt better and more ambitious, and together all of them managed to fill the void left by Suho for me.
I'd happily spend another 8 episodes with these guys a year or two from now.
Not as good as 1 because that was as close to perfect as you can get but still enjoyable. Seong je was a stand…
Interesting - Seongje was actually the least memorable to me. There was no emotional hook like with Baekjin nor a redemption arc like with Hyoman. He was just there, disappeared for a bit, then there again. The character's look was cool, but I felt no connection to him or his arc.
Not listed here for some reason but he will be in Kang Haneul and Go Minsi’s upcoming drama Tastefully Yours.
Are you sure you're not mixing him up with Yoo Soo Bin who's also in WHC2? Not that they look anything alike, but he'll be in Tastefully Yours; I've not heard anything about Bae Na Ra being in it.
Even if this drama sees the light of day, imagine how low the ratings will be solely due to him being in it
Disney+ struggle in the best of times to get eyeballs on their dramas, and the nightmare with trying to promote/market this drama anytime soon surely wouldn't help them.
