I am sure if Song Kang was in a BL series then Koreans would destroy his carrier definitely .
Yeah, some are already making a stink about his gay cameo in Escape earlier this year, so yeah there's no way someone as high profile as him could do BL.
Can't believe this has lower rating than family by choice rn. Mdl ratings are so inaccurate
Comparing the rating of a finished drama with one that has aired 2 episodes makes no sense. The majority of viewers tend to wait to rate a drama until after it has concluded.
I am already enjoying Family by Choice far more though, and it seems more sure of itself within the "slice of life" scope, so I won't be surprised if it's higher after it ends, too.
Queen of tears in my opinion is one of the worst written dramas in kdrama world. Its all over the placeIf anyone…
Anyone who follows kdramas knows that Park Ji-eun is excellent and she has already created several popular masterpieces that have stood the test of time. So will QOT. There's a reason it set records in domestic TV ratings and had 800+ million viewed hours on Netflix.
As the controversy grew, the production company backed down, saying, "We will re-release the trailer starting on the 16th." They explained, "The drama's main review board said it is not suitable for youth viewing, so the trailer was temporarily kept secret in order to undergo a re-review by the Korea Media Rating Board (KMRB)." However, the trailer had already received OTT's own rating classification, and there was no need to keep it secret for the KMRB's review.
Kim Heon-sik, a popular culture critic, expressed concern, saying, “It is an inappropriate decision to pressure the production company by only watching the trailer without even watching the original broadcast content, and for the production company to comply and delete it. This could further promote a culture of hate.”
- TVING getting criticized for removing the trailers. They say they'll be reuploaded tomorrow.
If this were a kdrama, what would happen is that someone in the conservative government would place a phone call to the TVING CEO and subtly threaten them with a reduction of grants/support from the Ministry of Culture if they did not find a way to cancel the drama. We'll see if reality is better.
Hopefully TVING won't bow to pressure and cancel the release. But I put nothing past cowardly companies in Korea. Either way the release on Viki should still go ahead for internationals.
Both are based on the same novel. The film covers the first chapter of the book which focuses on the ML's close friendship with Jae-hee (here: Mi-ae). The drama covers the entire book and focuses primarily on the ML's love life with various men.
So apparently there is some huge controversy that has erupted about this show? All official posters and trailers…
The official word is that because the drama was rated 19+ by the KMRB, they have to reevaluate the content of the promotional material, as the drama has been deemed "unsuitable for teens". Supposedly the trailers will be re-edited where needed and reuploaded this week.
(Of course this seems mostly like an excuse made up by a PR company, considering that the trailers were targeted by conservative groups and that they also don't contain anything explicit other than characters drinking some alcohol, which happens non-stop in every kdrama lol. The real issue here for the homophobes seems to be the gay kissing and being shirtless in bed.)
people think that appointing the mistakes of this remake is nitpicking when fans of he ziqiu were robbed of some…
There is no He Ziqiu in this drama, but you know what? You can watch him in this other drama called Go Ahead which contains his story. And then we can watch Kang Haejun in peace.
Bae Hyeon-seong is so wonderful in this. I really hope he blows up after this. He was excellent as the sort-of villain in Gyeongseong Creature 2 as well, in a very different role from this. Need him in more dramas!
Then you should probably pay more attention. The romance is the driving force of the plot of the drama, humanizing…
Without the romance there is no drama. Nobody would watch 14 episodes of Justitia killing a bunch of people repetitively and then returning to hell unscathed and unbothered. There's no conflict in that.
Also it's funny to say the romance feels forced when A) it's been foreshadowed since like the first ten minutes of the first episode and B) it has not actually materialized yet, they were enemies until like five minutes ago and still Justitia seems happy to use him and then kill him after he kills J. So where exactly is this forced romance? They didn't "fall in love", they are still very much feeling each other out. It sounds like we're watching different dramas, essentially. Because this is a perfect slow burn for me.
I think the romance plot is rather unnecessary and forced. Not all dramas have to have romance in them..
Then you should probably pay more attention. The romance is the driving force of the plot of the drama, humanizing Justitia in a way that puts her in danger, and playing a part in Daon questioning his view of what justice means in an unjust world. Their evolving relationship is integral as we enter the final two weeks.
I felt the leads definitely had chemistry, though some may think otherwise because of their unique relationship…
Nothing unique about their dynamic. The romantic chemistry simply wasn’t there for many of us, and the kisses were terrible, regardless of whether the direction was partly to blame.
No one cares about your essay about Go Ahead; we’re here to watch Family by Choice. The fact that you are passing…
Yes, it's just as annoying if it goes the other way. Especially because fans of the original are often defensive and combative and it takes over the comment section. Which is very annoying for several reasons, for one it means it drowns out comments that are actually discussing the drama that is airing, and secondly it just creates a bad vibe. The majority of watchers of an adaptation haven't seen the original work, and so it just becomes noise that prevents people from participating.
Boldly claiming "Go Ahead will always be superior" is not mere comparison and it adds nothing of value to a comment section for an adaptation that has only just started airing.
Saw a comment that said this is better compared to Go Ahead. I didn't wanna say anything about this drama but…
No one cares about your essay about Go Ahead; we’re here to watch Family by Choice.
The fact that you are passing judgment on this drama after 2 (!) episodes have aired just reveals that you're not operating in good faith and are just here to act superior about the original drama.
