I'm shocked that Kim Yoo Jung isn't nominated in Baeksang :-O
These are more of the legendary/iconic actresses! I haven't seen Kim Mi-Kyung or Choo Ja-Hyun in any dramas yet, but I'll check them out. If Seo Woo were still acting, she could pull off Baek Ah-Jin too- those big eyes of hers would work so well. Very creepy.

It depends on the actor/actress for sure. There are several I can think of who'd nail this role: Go Hyun-Jung (she was basically Baek Ah-Jin 2.0 in Queen Mantis), Lee So-Yeon, Ha Ji-Won... I think this would be considered Kim Yoo-Jung's most iconic role, though.
I'd watch it, though there are various flaws plot and character-wise.
Oh yeah, he's the ML and the protagonist. Me personally I rooted for Chu Sang-Ah (the FL) throughout the drama. When that scene actually happened, I completely hated him. MASSIVE YIKES!
She was a sociopath, but I'd say it was good. If you want a psychological thriller without any romance and a villain…
Ohhhh, thank you so much for these recommendations! I've copied them down!
I also recommend Return which is another legal/crime mystery-thriller. It has *some* makjang tropes, but at its core is a murder-mystery involving the elite. The FL and ML (a lawyer with a court TV show and a hot-tempered detective) team up to solve the murder, but the victim has connections to everyone's pasts...
It was a great watch for me. 34 episodes, 30 minutes each. Despite the FL recast, I enjoyed it a lot.

Understandable! I was giving additional context. Regarding legal dramas, do you have any recommendations? I've been getting into them and crime & political dramas lately.

But they *did* explain her behavior and why she turned out the way she did. Frequently. (I'm not spoiling anything, but the FL had a messed up childhood. It was DARK. 1 reason why I wouldn't personally rewatch Dear X is because of all the violence in it.) π€ Also there's plenty of media with villain protagonists, even outside of k-dramas. It's not necessarily new nor does it reflect what the creator is like as a person (I'd REALLY hope not. Otherwise I have lots of questions for a few authors and screenwriters.) Usually they represent some type of message and/or almost always have some sort of grand downfall. There are some "heroes" in Dear X but they play very minor roles. For the most part, every character is flawed somehow.
Wow, @Tia - that was a lot! And I agree with 90% (my bias has always been with BTS rather than sang-ah) and since…
I didn't intend for my review to be THIS long, but well... it happened! Coincidentally we had the same score. Solid drama, it's definitely been fun. π
The way that Young-Shik came, dropped the bombshell that In-Ki was FL's daughter, then left??? I'm dead. You gotta love makjangs π but the 2nd half of episode 47 was a trip! Between us catching up to the flash-forward, Young-Dae getting drunk, and the dramatic music... phew!
I loved Return though!

Nam Ae-Ri is still an annoying bitch...
