Really enjoying this one. The production is top notch, like Ken Watanabe said before, it really does feel like…
One really small nitpick I have so far is probably how they don't mention the characters' names during conversations enough for me to remember because I'm always left wondering what their names were. Three episodes in and I still don't know what Jake's friends' names are.
edit: 5 episodes in now, there are so many explicit sex scenes that just go on for too long (most being filler imo). I'm not used to seeing this many sex scenes in jdramas so this is very baffling to me lol.
Really enjoying this one. The production is top notch, like Ken Watanabe said before, it really does feel like you're watching a movie. It's also really cool that you can tell they actually learned how to speak Japanese as opposed to just butchering the language and the fact how most of the dialogue is still in Japanese.
The story's pacing might be slow for some but at the same time I find the pacing of the story and how they introduce the characters and such to be just right for me personally because imo it helps allowing the viewer to immerse themselves with its world and its characters and the next thing you know, you find yourself wanting to watch another episode. I'm so invested now so can Episode 4 come sooner lol.
Spot on. If there is one thing that I would change, it would be Naoto's casting. that guy is too old in the past.…
I think they were self aware that Sugino was too tall for a middle schooler because they even acknowledged this in the movie lol but if they made him as a high schooler like everybody else here then I probably wouldn't mind at all but I'm not that bothered about his height anyway lol.
But the thing is Naoto and Kisaki are both the same age lol, in the manga at least.
Having read the manga & watched the anime while waiting for the live action, I think everyone here pretty much played their roles really well but especially Yuki, Ryo, Takumi and Hayato for sure! It really felt like these characters came straight from the manga. IMO it was a great adaptation, they stayed considerably faithful to the source material and understandably you can't fit the whole arc under just two hours so certain moments won't be included but that's to be expected of course but what do I appreciate is that they also had their own little bits of flavor on the story or certain moments here. (iirc mangaka wanted them to create their own ver.)
