My favorite is coming back to the comments and seeing people generalize jdramas as a whole as these 'weird, controversial' shows.

Also Okada Kenshi did amazing for his debut; you can't take that way from him.

Yeah based on the trailer (just listen to that fun song!) and the plot, I knew it was going to be a fun cheesy…
I honestly don't see it that way but still, listening to the OST alone (not the MV), it's a nice, fun song and I don't know how many could perceive this show as a complex, melodramatic show at first lol.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSHFCBVD8Po They even promoted it as a "thrilling romantic comedy", lol. Everything about the trailer just screams cheesy fun romcom and "Death Prince" straight up feels like a character comes alive from a manga.

Yeah based on the trailer (just listen to that fun song!) and the plot, I knew it was going to be a fun cheesy romcom lol. I genuinely don't know how people thought of this as a melodramatic romance drama at first.. have they not listened to the drama's OST lol. It feels like an anime and I'm surprised it wasn't based on a manga. Plus, the writer has written comedy dramas too in the past.

Toda Erica does not look beautiful.
You're right, she's more than just beautiful. She's gorgeous.

Might just be your brightness settings. It's perfectly fine for me and everyone else, haven't heard any complaint…
I don't recall the previous movies being dark but if you "can just about see them" so if anything...

Title Dragon Sakura Season 2 Spoiler
You must like Dragon Zakura 2 a lot, because you listed it twice in your top ten on your profile ;-)Although I…
rofl I didn't even notice that, thank you for letting me know.

That's fair honestly, I can see why. They were problematic students in a run down school with teachers who didn't have a single care in the world for the students with the exception of Ino-sensei while these students from this season only lack ambition and the teachers do care but believe that studying is not the be all-end all of life and episode 1 makes that crystal clear so that totally makes the students of the first season, the true underdogs to root for so it makes sense why you'd root for them more. But I personally found myself able to relate with the characters here in S2 than S1 as I'm watching the episodes, I found myself being in their shoes before so that's one thing that stuck to me the most and made me appreciate this season more than the previous one since it made me root for the characters more, which had more depth and character development to them than the ones in season one. A lot of their backstories are realistic and intriguing to me personally, as I found myself relating to them as well and the stories all vary so it can cater to all sorts of people. It also helps that I feel like this cast had more chemistry than the OG cast (acting-wise also), again I know many will disagree because of nostalgia and the fact the cast was star-studded back then and especially even so now and the fact that this lineup of actors are nowhere near as popular or recognizable as the cast of the first season were back then at the time but I've rewatched the first season before watching this and I personally am still of the same opinion that the cast had better chemistry, coming from someone who adored the original Dragon Zakura; I wouldn't be watching jdramas had it not been for that classic drama I watched back then.

All in all, the setting for both dramas are different but they're both great in their own ways and both of these dramas have that exact same "Dragon Zakura" charm when you're watching them. I'm glad that they didn't go the Gokusen route and just completely copy everything from season one and just have a different set of students for this sequel, that would be a total let down considering this was a highly anticipated sequel and I would imagine it wouldn't sit well with JP audiences. Really can't go wrong with either, I can see why one might prefer one season than the other.

Great finale for an amazing sequel. I know it's easy to say the OG cast/drama was great and all because of nostalgia but honestly after sitting back and upon further reflection, IMO the writer & directors took Dragon Zakura and amped it up 5x better in terms of everything. The writing, the cinematography, the OST, the acting, the cast etc, the sequel just hits it out of the park. Again, kudos to the writer & directors, none of them worked on the original classic Dragon Zakura but they managed to retain that feeling of the classic Dragon Zakura that a lot of people grew up watching but in a fresh, modern setting. All of the fanservice is there for those who loved the first one and they also managed to make this sequel still watchable as a standalone even if you hadn't watched the first season yet but at the same time also still very pleasing to watch as a sequel to the first season.

This is undoubtedly a 10/10 for me. This just reminds me of how great the school jdramas were around 2000-2010, which many would argue were the golden age of jdramas and I would totally believe this would've been iconic as well had it been airing during those years too and perhaps it might as well already be an iconic drama now considering its high ratings (one of the few dramas with the most highest ratings in the Reiwa era!). There's not many jdramas, specificially school jdramas, that can be this uplifting and inspiring and feel like those iconic school jdramas back then like Nobuta wo Produce, GTO 1998, Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, etc. One of the best from this season, one of the best sequels out there and one of the best dramas from this year period. Do not miss out on this one.

Review Dragon Sakura Season 2 Spoiler
Season 3 won't be made probably considering Sakuragi says he'll graduate along, aka no longer teaching for the Todai special course and presumably staying with Mizuno's law firm office. Plus I don't want to see a sequel without Abe Hiroshi as Sakuragi tbh.

Yeah it's hilarious to see the diehard Tokyo Revengers fans shitting on this already (as to be expected from anime…
It's funny because a lot of them are highly praised in Japan by TR fans for looking extremely similar to their manga counterpart, even the mangaka himself thinks so! But anime fans will cry over any live action so no surprise there.

I don't think it will make a huge impact as it did with the anime. Nevertheless I'm gonna watch it. 'cause live…
This film was initially supposed to be released long before the anime aired/was announced but was postponed thanks to the pandemic. I've seen pretty much all of the teasers they showed on social media, it looks really faithful to the anime/manga so I'm excited for it. Not to mention, both japanese anime & manga fans liked this adaptation.

The cast is not one to sleep on either, and there's also plenty of great live action manga adaptations out there.

If someone dares to say again that J actors are ugly, which I saw a lot on twitter, I would recommend them this…
Yeah it's hilarious to see the diehard Tokyo Revengers fans shitting on this already (as to be expected from anime fans), they have no idea how crazy packed this cast is.
