THEY BROUGHT BACK NAKAO, KOIKE, AND SAEKO, what a nice surprise ;_; Aragaki Yui showed up as well! But Yamashita only appeared with his voice, because of the tight shooting schedule and last minute decision to include both Gakki and Yamapi in the final episode (they weren't planned to appear) and it was said that Yamapi was hard to be persuaded to appear (schedule wise)
Why is the description for her MDL page so 50/50? Like there's her accolades sure but also most of it are random stuff like her random dating rumors or her scandal or her older brother getting arrested or her pet dog. It's just all over the place?
Episode 7 really reminded me of when the students in season 1 were devastated with their results in their mock tests/exams and Sakuragi wanted the students to remember the frustrations and failures they had and wanted the students to make use of them as more motivation and determination to want to make it to Todai even more.
This was something new and very unique as the plot goes but nothing I wouldn't expect from a Jdrama. This is a…
wdym? I remember Meguru straight up saying "I'm a guy" to the waiter who served him and Wako drinks served specificially for female customers in episode 1.
Honestly, I still have so many problems with the writing in this drama and I'm of the opinion that this isn't…
Anyone else was hoping for Saki to get her payback at that junior of her that got her demoted in EP1 in some way?
It took 10 episodes but they finally learned how to communicate properly and to not make decisions based on their emotions at the time (of their 17th argument) and not think of divorcing every single time (though Koichi still saying "we have no choice to break up?" in the last episode after promising he'll change had me rolling my eyes smh) . These two take divorcing so lightly, it almost left a lasting impression on my views too lol after watching this. Imagine being Aoyama, having to handle Saki and Koichi and their families must be so stressful.
I had the least amount of gripes in the last episode because it was such a fulfilling episode, they finally gave us what everyone in the show should've been doing except for Koichi's mom. Thought this drama was going to show that you can just be as happy and content living alone but nooooope they just had to pair her again with her ex-husband who barely cared for her. Anyhow, It was nice to see Koichi changing for the better and seeing him change in this episode is heartwarming (even wore the suit Saki got for him!)
Honestly, I still have so many problems with the writing in this drama and I'm of the opinion that this isn't at all a must-watch but I'd say go watch it if you're a fan of Keiko & Eita (hilarious here with his antics!) and you want to listen to Kenshi Yonezu's Pale Blue song at the end of every episode. Other than that, I would probably be dropping this drama midway had it not been for the two leads and Kenshi Yonezu <3
First half of EP8 kinda seemed filler to me at first but the second half with Wako/Meguru & Asahi/Kira's scenes were all so wholesome I might die of loneliness lol
Definitely Yamapi. the rest of the OG cast didn't post anything when the show's premiered.
It's very likely that it's Aragaki who's returning though I don't know why exactly they're calling her the biggest helper. Character-wise, I'd love to see Yamapi instead (I say this as a huge Gakki fan lol) because I'm more interested in Yajima's character development after 16 years than Aragaki's character but it's not looking likely since they shot this early this year and Yamapi's busy with his overseas career. However, POSSIBLE MAJOR MANGA SPOILERS ALERT BELOW,
A bearded Yajima shows up in the manga in the middle of Sakuragi's speech to give a speech for the students. I would genuinely be surprised if they actually got Yamapi in this but I really think it's Aragaki. It's possible that it's Hasegawa Kyoko since she was also a teacher in the first one but that would be a let-down IMO lol.
- Like @Mamir mentioned below, they're having FIVE original songs from FIVE different artists (considerably popular) in their theme songs' line up, I personally have never seen a drama or a film have that many songs for a *single* drama but it seems like they're going all out with this one https://twitter.com/nd_fujitv/status/1401811205363167235?s=19
- Two directors + writer have worked on popular medical dramas like Code Blue, Radiation House, Kansatsui Asagao, Good Doctor etc
- Night Doctor is also a Getsu9 drama, the timeslot that starts at 9 in the evening on Monday is considered Japan's ~golden time~ for dramas FujiTV branded that specific timeslot the "Getsuku/Gekku" or Getsu9. Every so often you get actors that star in their first "Getsu9", basically Getsu9 is Monday at 9pm dramas are jdramas that are expected to be popular.
- FujiTV has produced many successful medical dramas like Good Doctor, Radiation House, Unsung Cinderella and especially, the highly popular medical drama series, Code Blue
- Cast also features popular band member from DISH// & popular idol group member from King & Prince

it's most likely aragaki yui since there's been rumors of her appearing as a cameo for a while now
