I understand that some people feel uncomfortable with certain scenes, and that’s totally valid, they have every right to express that. My only issue arises when others start attacking the audience for not feeling the same discomfort. After all, we’re here to discuss and critique the show, not to criticize each other for differing opinions. There’s no reason to call people names just because they see things differently. I’m on the same page as you with everything you said.

Feeling uncomfortable is totally valid but snapping at others for having a different perspective isn’t. Everyone processes things in their own way and no one’s less valid for not finding a particular scene controversial. As mentioned by someone else below, here are two sides, some might view Fadel as the aggressor for choking Style first. Either way, these types of scenes hit differently for each person.

I love this insight because that’s actually a really thoughtful perspective and a strong counterpoint to some of the moral arguments being raised here.

I'm quite used to it, any time a show dips into darker themes, some people swoop in to lecture the audience on morality. And look, it’s fine if someone feels uncomfortable, that’s their prerogative. But what gets frustrating is when people start attacking others, throwing around accusations of being “mental” or worse, just because they can separate fiction from reality. This happens constantly, not just here but with almost every dark-themed show. Instead of respecting different perspectives, it turns into a moral battleground, which honestly, takes all the fun out of enjoying a story for what it is aka fiction.

Here’s my two cents. First, let me say I respect everyone’s perspective but for me, that scene wasn’t controversial at all. I don’t mix fiction with reality and this show thrives in morally gray territory. The main characters are assassins and that’s undeniably romanticized, I mean hot killers making crime look cool, right? Fiction has always taken liberties with dark themes and that’s fine because it’s not reality. A forced kiss in real life is problematic but in fiction, it’s a narrative tool. It’s used to explore power dynamics or conflicts that drive the story forward. Plus, in this specific case, Fadel clearly wanted it as much as Style did (as proven by the final scene) and it was a kiss, not a full-on sex scene. For me, it’s all fiction and I treat it as such, so who they kiss, kill, or fall for is all part of the story, and I’m just here to enjoy it tbh.

If the moral police plans on reading this, I respect the fact y'all are uncomfortable but don't come at me because I won't engage in an argument in which both sides clearly have different views.

Bison’s smile when he’s with Kant is genuinely heartbreaking because it’s pure, unfiltered sunshine since he sees him as this rare escape from the dark world he’s trapped in. It’s like, for the first time, Bison gets to breathe and the fucking tragedy of that is that Kant isn’t just his escape, he’s the person slowly building the very trap that might destroy him. By making Bison fall for him, Kant is turning Bison’s vulnerability into a weapon, he is LITERALLY gaining the power to break him from the inside out. And Bison being so smitten doesn’t even see it coming. I will need therapy when the angst hits my screen

My dude Fadel is out here grilling food with one hand and killing people with the other like it’s nothing. He’s just casually deciding who gets a side of death with their fries while he’s seasoning the beef. I love him

Im saying this as a Christian myself, I think the quotes chosen for this show couldn’t be more spot-on. It feels like the creators actually understand the tension that comes with being both religious and queer. From the trailer, you can already see that they are jumping into the experience of feeling like a "walking sin" just because of who you are and that is an experience so many of us face when people twist religion into a weapon against homosexuality. I dont think its just about theology, to me it looks like it’s about the spiritual toll of being told that your existence contradicts your faith.

So from my perspective the director is trying to shine a light on how religion is supposed to be about love, not exclusion or judgment. And honestly it’s exhausting to keep circling back to the argument of “but religion is against it.” That debate misses the point and those sorts of comments are not needed lmao. Faith isn’t supposed to make you hate yourself, it’s supposed to uplift and guide you. This show feels like it’s trying to reclaim that message and it’s about time we start having these conversations so PLS stop with the nonesense ffs
