I read a person reviewing ep 13-14 and she mentioned it's like drinking water. Drinking water comes naturally and in a blink you gulp it down.

I'm always so amazed of the production team. Ep 13, the dogs are chinese hounds, that were used in that period of time.

Also, when she was describing everything she saw in the house where Dulang was hiding, so detailed and perceptive! I could practically see ML’s head reeling, trying to figure out how a lowly maid like her could be so observant and smart. Gaah, I just wanted to tell LX to shut up! 😂 You’re revealing way too much about yourself and making ML suspicious!

I appreciate this drama so much for not taking ME as a fool. I drank bitter chinese meds before, lots of time, and I always gulped it down so it's quickly downed. Often cdramas have ml/fl/servants spoon feed the bitter soup, and in my head I scoff bc that's just prolonging the pain of drinking the soup. But, for once!! For damn once, our fl here declined being fed sip by sip by spoon and rather gulped it down herself. She said "meds are not meant to taste good, just gulp it down, sipping only makes me savour the bitterness". Holy shit, someone understands me!

Did anyone notice LX stabbed the bad guy in the groin. Damn, first time ever a fl did that to save herself. And his sword against her throat looked like he was really slicing her. And him looking at her before he died, scaring LX. Brilliant scene. The details were off the charts. Lastly, his Drawn picture is so believable those under eyes really match the person himself

Tencent only produces 2 S+ dramas a year bc of the high budget cost. Against the Current is one of the S+, it has been promoted and published as S+ from the very beginning.

Please stop spreading false information if you don’t have the facts.

This drama is S+ through and through. Tencent bought acres of land to build this set and now the set will be prolonged as an attraction site for visitors in Hengdian. The cast, directing, even 14 ost songs are all S+ quality. 14 original songs created for this drama costs money!

I find Lin household would've been doomed if LJQ didn't exist to carry on the name. His dad's generation of men are all useless and foolish, aka his dad and uncle. Then it seems like the only one that could be ok is ml's half brother born from concubine, but bc he's sickly and born from concubine, he doesn't seem to have too much of a future.

In a sense, this drama is educational too

The writer or director really did her research. I can't take all the credit, I had some idea of it, but it's only confirmed after I read comments on chinese social media. I love going to chinese social medias bc the viewers and fans have so much knowledge of their own culture and they analyze every single detail, from the floral arrangements on the girls' head, to the clothing and even food on the table. What I like about proper historical period dramas are the social norms and the political reactions.

She is more modern minded, she has wits and literate, brave and courageous. So she doesn't want to just be a female, being a SAM and wife. She wants to climb up the social ladder and political ladder. She wants to be respected. Ml's mom said even a royal consort would have to give face/ be courteous to an official of a certain standing (the position Miss Du wanted to aim for). She wants a fair chance at life, she hated not being able to take the national exam like other men.

She's the mastermind of the flower scheme. She was very close to getting what she wanted and then LX ruined her plans. So now she will hate LX and revenge on her. Sigh.
