I think, for once in cdrama world, no one is obsessed with ml. They are all building their careers in some way. Also, what I read is that the Du siblings are from military family, that means their kids and their grandkids will have to be forced to join military by law. So the whole generation would only be allowed to do military and it's not even high positions like general that noble families can cut the line for. I think that's one of the main reason why both siblings want to marry up.

It basically relates to ml and marques (in novel they are bffs).
